I obsessivly pick sores on my hands and scalp, why can't I stop even though it hurts? Is it anxiety or something else?
Something else: If it 's not irritation (itching) then you probably have dermatillomania, which is just a fancy way of saying you obsessively pick at yourself. This is thought to be related to obsessive-compulsive disorder & may improve on an ssri antidepressant. Cognitive-behavioral therapy might also help. YES: When working with patients infected or otherwise, you need to follow universal precautions. If you have open sores on hands all the more reason to be careful. You could obtain infection and you could transmit infections too. My husband takes oxycotin 60 mg snd when he takes it it makes him have sores on hid hands and mskes him scratch all over is that normal.
See below: My best guess would be either an allergy to the medication or simply the release of histamine due to the medication. First, he needs to stop scratching, the sores will get infected.
