Have it examined: Have it examined by your local dermatologist. It may be a harmless (benign) lesion (ie, benign nevus, angioma, fibrous papule) or it could be a melanoma or non-melanoma skin cancer. Please try to stop picking it. Even if it is harmless it may be removed to prevent you from further irritating/infecting it. ...Read more

Not to worry: If the area of redness is greater than half an inch or is associated with increasing pain, pus-like drainage, or if you have a fever or otherwise feel ill, then i would call your doctor to have it examined. Otherwise, this is probably inflammation associated with the mole removal and normal healing. ...Read more

No: On the scalp it is common to have adherent scabs because of hairs trapped in the scab. It will be black from old blood. If you cannot tease it off or wash it off, your Dr can easily remove it. This may involve gently cutting hairs under the scab. ...Read more

I just had 2 moles removed from my back to be biopsied and was given white petoleum and bandaids and told to wash with soap and water twice a day until a scab forms.How will a scab form if you are keeping the wound moist?

However, some thoughts are acne keloidalis (sometimes seen with really short haircuts), could also be a form of scalp cellulitis. Lymph node: sounds like a swollen lymph node. When you press on it the pain may be from recent infection in mouth or neck skin. If you had a recent infection expect the node to remain for one month. If longer see a doctor. Can be a cyst as well. That will need to be excised. ...Read more
