Sore Throat In One Spot
I have a very sore throat, one side, and a noticable white spot, almost pus-like, on tonsil, same side. It's 1am. Can I wait till tomorrow to be seen?
Yes, you can wait: Try hot salt water gargle. Alternate with straight 3% hydrogen peroxide gargle. Also, try an over the counter cough drop (Hall's, Cepacol, etc) to ease the discomfort. High-dose Vitamin D3 may help--I recommend 10, 000 IU/day, until you are well. Then cut to 5, 000 IU per day. Should be able to get most of this stuff in an all-night drug store or convenience store. ...Read more
I have an extremely sore throat on one side. Right tonsil is very swollen with potruding dark red pimple like spot. This came out of nowhere.
Throat infection: The symptoms that you have described sound like your tonsil could be infected. Although an infection could be caused by a virus, it may be due to a bacterial infection. You should see a doctor and have your throat tested for Strep. A doctor can also determine if there is an abscess in your tonsil. Antibiotics and possible drainage of an abscess would be warranted in that case. ...Read more

Sore throat with swallowing for 3 days, white spot near tonsil looks like canker sore but doesn't feel like one, bleeds from center. What is it?
I have one singular white spot on my left tonsil. No fever, lymph nodes are not swollen, and I have a mild sore throat. What could it be.
I have a sore throat, cough that hurts my chest. And I seen ONE yellow spot on my right tonsil. No fever that ive noticed. Could it be strep?
Hard to guess: Throat pain can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees a doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to see about antibiotics). Lots of coughing makes it less likely to be strep throat. Doctor can evaluate. ...Read more
6yr old girl rash - one spot 2 weeks ago. Spread small raised red bumps on trunk. First spot is flat in the middle. Now fever, congestion, sore throat?
Rash: Rashes are very difficult to diagnose without some visuals, at least in pictures if not in person. It sounds to me like pityriasis rosea with a herald spot from your description and that the cold symptoms are unrelated. See your pediatrician. Alternatively, you can try Healthtap Prime and upload some photos. ...Read more

White spots on my uvula & tonsils. Left side looks a bit swollen. Negative for strep. No sore throat. Ent said tonsillitis & saw a "pus pocket" on one side. I had a bad cold for 5 wks. Could be mono?
No sore throat just neck ache. Runny nose. Tiny white spots on back of uvula. One on tip of tongue went away with salt water. Looks like herpangina?
Please stop: Please stop trying to diagnose yourself. If you have Herpangina you would probably also have an acute fever. You can't see the back of your Uvula without putting a mirror behind it. Your symptoms suggest an infection, so go see your Family Physician. Let him/her do the diagnosis and treatment plan. You'll be glad you did. ...Read more
