Depends: People can have a slightly hoarse voice and a sore throat after intubation, this will resolve and should get better in a couple of days. However, if there is complete loss of voice(or very hoarse), or if it is taking longer-this is not typical and could be a sign of a problem. Uncommonly, the arytenoid cartilage can be dislocated. PEG blood in saliva: May be from gastritis/ GERD esophagela irritation . Are you on ranitidine or previcid? (PPI or H2 blockers? . Would call you GI doctor today and let him know, as he may add these medications if you are not on them or may wish to do an EGD and see what is there. ...Read more

Several possibilitie: Sounds like you're worried about infection.. Possible, especially if you have fever. Swollen red spots it tissue in back of throat could be infection. Also acid reflux from stomach could produce similar symptoms w/out fever. If it's the latter expect more frequent symptoms. No, call your Dr.: Are you lying flat in bed during or for about an hour after feeds? That can cause reflux and burning in throat. Low fever usually not related to tf, may be that you are getting an unrelated sore throat to explain both--should contact your dr to be sure everything is ok. ...Read more
