Sore Throat Ear Pain No Fever
I've been sick for a week. I had a fever a week ago but now it's sore throat, mucus in my throat and extreme ear pain. Should I see someone?
Yes: It sounds like you have either a viral or bacterial upper respiratory infection. You should discuss your symptoms and be examined by your primary care doctor. They will be able to determine if you require antibiotics or continued symptomatic treatment to make you feel better. Hope you feel well soon.See 1 more doctor answer
Considerations: It looks like you may have an allergy condition from your meds-what do you take? Have you been taking it? That should be considered but also traditional home remedies like Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Advil for pain and throat lozenges, hot tea, salt water gargles. OTC decongestant may help ears even if no nasal symptoms. If fever develops or pain severe you should probably be seen to rule out strep or other infectionSee 1 more doctor answer
I have had a stick neck, throbbing sharp ear pain, sore throat and low grade fever for a week. What could this be?
Sore throat for almost a week white patches with ear pain and eyes full of dried drainage when awaking. Can't open them without warm water. Low fever.
Dull achy ear pain in both my ears, sore throat, fever 100.2 and stuffy nose. What is this? Can I take cold medicine?
For the past few days I've had difficulty swallowing, a lump in throat sensation, and ear pain, but no sore throat or fever. What could this be?
Can you have strep throat without a fever? And possibly an ear infection as well? Worst sore throat ever for 4 days now and ear pain but no fever?
Yes: You may have strep throat without fever. Can be very difficult to swallow, so bad you can't swallow your own saliva. A simple swab test can diagnose or exclude strep throat in a very short time, and you can then initiate antibiotic therapy. If you do have strep throat, you are contagious until you've been on treatment for at least 24 hrs. Get seen soon. Good luck.
8 yo w/ a sore throat yesterday, 2day tonsils look swollen but not red, ear pain, mild fever 37.7C, no cold symp. Warrants evaluation or is it early?
Evaluation: In an 8 y/o, especially with lack of cold symptoms, I would be concerned about strep throat. You don't have to have red tonsils or white patches to have strep throat. You gave it couple of days (which is good for strep -studies show if you wait a day or two before treating less likely to recur), so now it's time to see if it is strep, and have quick exam to make sure no enlargement of liver/spleenSee 2 more doctor answers
Uti and flu? Have UTI. It usually clear up on own, Now I have a fever, ear pain, high fever sore throat, fatigue and pain. Can I have both? What to do?
See doctor: Yes, you can have both= different germs and different systems being infected. While UTI symptoms can go away, it does not mean the UTI went away. Your heart surgery history puts you at higher risk for getting heart infections from infections elsewhere in your body and usually needs antibiotics to prevent that.
No effect of penicilin after 3 days. Bad sore throat, difficulty swalloing, ear ache, head ache, swelling under ear. Pain gets worst in night. No fever?
Give it time: We know true strep is universally sensitive (killed) by penicillin, but the tissue disruption/pain triggered by infection may take time to improve. You can also have a co-infection with a throat virus (like mono) which can produce some of the most painful soar throats. If your doc treated you without confirming the strep, a virus may be the main cause and the penicillin would do nothing.
Red rash on chest starting to get a bad sore throat and ear pain. Have had some allergy sinus drainage. No fever yet. Could this be Strep?
For 2 weeks have had off/on ear pain, headaches, fevers, and sore throat. Nothing too serious. Now painful lymph node on lower jaw. Should I see a doc?
Yes: 2 weeks is a long time to be sick and you continue to have new symptoms. There is a reason your lymph node is swollen. Check it out with your doctor. All the best.
Consistant headache, sore throat, ear pain, gums hurt, body aches, nauseous, negative for strep throat and the flu taken amoxilin,?
2 separate problems: These 2 problems should be addressed separately. 1. swollen gums - can be a sign that you already have, gum disease or dental abscess. See your dentist. 2. Headache, sinus aches, coughing- seasonal flu is very common viral infection with symptoms you have described. Usually the condition resolves on its own with home care. Drink water, NSAIDs and get a good rest.See 1 more doctor answer
Right ear pain, sore throat, soft tissue in mouth sore on right side, ear stings when swallow, have flu syndrome but no flu (from doctor). Help!
See below: Many other viruses can give the same symptoms of flu. Alot depends on what your doc found on physical exam and what is prevalent in your community. If not improving in next 24-48 hours it would probably warrant a re-check.
