Sore Throat And Swollen Glands On One Side
My daughter has small itchy red bumps with a kind of scaly or blister like center. She recently had a fever, swollen glands, and sore throat.
My son had soreness on one side of his tongue, which followed a swollen roof of mouth. Now has off and on sore throat and swollen gland on one side.
Evaluation needed: It would be prudent for your son to see a physician to determine the cause of these symptoms and then appropriate treatment if necessary. It could be a viral or bacterial infection or something else. Only a personal clinical examination can accurately determine the cause of these symptoms.See 2 more doctor answers
2 weeks after I had unprotected sex I developed a sore throat and swollen glands. A few days later knots on both sides of my neck occurred. HIV?
HIV: Since you have not disclosed your age, a response is not possible. Please discuss with your parents or your physician.
Just flew back from cancun Sat and I have the worst sore throat I have ever had, ever. Super swollen glands both sides and incredibly sore to swallow.
Something infectious: Mono is from the EBV virus, and can cause swollen glands (lymph nodes) and big tonsils. Strep throat can do the same thing, but Strep throat needs antibiotics. Some other infections can cause big lymph nodes. More rarely, blood disorders and blood cancers cause swollen lymph nodes and fatigue (person often gets anemic). This all means that a trip to the doctor would be wise.
Yes -see doctor: It's always good to see a doctor if you have health concerns, because that way you can get the best treatment possible. Health Tap is useful for some things -but it's nice to have someone listen to you, examine you and perform the appropriate tests...particularly if these symptoms have gone on for more than a few days. A sore throat could mean various things such as Strep, a viral infection etc.
What illnesses involve swollen glands, a sore throat, and white blisters in the back of your throat? There are puss pockets on both sides of throat, but only the right side of my throat hurts and is swollen.
I didn't give enough info before. Feb 12 I had unprotected sex. Feb 27 a sore throat began that lasted 2 days, along with swollen glands. I still have swollen glands, pain in neck (mostly on left side) and have random itchy skin here and there, but no bum
See a doc: See a doctor and get an HIV test - there are other possibilities like chlamydia as well of course But primary hiv can present like that
Sore throat, worse with swallowing. Swollen glands on rt side. Cough, somewhat productive. Is it likely a virus and therefor no reason for dr visit?
Viral Most Common: It is most likely a viral infection, which usually clears on its own within a week. If the symptoms last longer, fever worsens, severe headache, skin rash, dark urine, thick mucous, cough productive of colored or bloody sputum, or difficulty breathing, see your doctor. To relieve the sore throat, gargle frequently with warm or cold double-strength tea or warm salt water. Wash hands often.See 1 more doctor answer
What would cause one of my neck vein/arteries to always stick out of the skin? Male 20 yrs old sore throat/ mucus lately with swollen glands in neck.
Very sore throat, mostly left side. Burn/sting when swallow. Bright red throat with red streaks, swollen glands, pain in left ear, low fever, stomachache?
Possible strep: This could be strep therefore should see doctor or urgent care.
Is there a difference in having a sore throat and swollen glands inside your mouth or its the same? Because my throat been sore on & off for weeks?
Go see ENT doctor: Sore throat is commonly caused by infections (glands can enlarge although they are actually located in the neck). Any sore throat that persists beyond 2-3 weeks requires full evaluation from ENT doctor to make sure there is no serious infection like Strept throat.
My daughter has woken with swollen lips and and a puffy face. She has had a sore throat and swollen glands with a temperature of 38.5 even after parac?
Need to see a doctor: It looks like your daughter is getting an acute pharyngitis. She is needed to be seen by a physician to be evaluated if she has bacteria infection. In the mean time, try to control her fever with alternating paracetamol and Ibuprofen so it won't be so high that she may have seizure due to high temperature. She needs to drink plenty of fluid too so she is not dehydrated.See 1 more doctor answer
My daughter tested positive for mono yesterday. How long has it been since she contracted the virus. She doesn't seem to b overly tired but had the sore throat and swollen glands.
Mono testing: Given that she has other symptoms, it is likely that the disease contact was within the past week to 10 days. The mono test is based on development of IgM antibodies, which are the first ones to appear, and develop within about a week. Depending on the test, there can be other considerations, but her case sounds consistent with the common scenario.See 3 more doctor answers
Salt water gargles: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician & get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day.
Oral sex: May need some antibiotics for this and a throat culture. could be related but doubtful
I had oral sex then a week later swollen glands and a sore throat came, I'm 19 yr female what could this be?
Maybe strep, flu, etc.: One should be sure to tell the doctor exactly what kind of oral sex is going on. Sore throat symptoms can be from cold viruses, strep throat, allergies, etc... It can be difficult to tell what the cause is. If symptoms only last 1-2 days, it was likely allergies, irritation, or a mild cold. There are rapid 5-minute tests for strep, so a primary care doctor can diagnose strep and start antibiotics.See 1 more doctor answer
Had 2 front crowns 3 years ago, been having pain and now sore throat swollen glands, no voice could this be from the crowns?
Front crowns: Your symptoms are generally unrelated to dental treatment. However, it the pain is in the teeth that have the crowns, you need to have them examined by a dentist.
I have a more severe sore throat than normal for the 4 days, but it was pretty light on the first day. She also has swollen glands, and congestion.
Sore throat: You may have mono or an untreated strep infection. See your doctor for help.
