Maybe: If you have these symptoms for only several days, it is likely viral. The treatment of choice would be supportive: plenty of hydration (not including caffeine), rest, tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin (for pain and fever relief), diet as tolerated. If you don't have much improvement, and you can't tolerate liquids to the point of dehydration, you should see your doctor. ...Read more

You are sick. I would consult with local people as you are probably not the first to experience this.
Try a warm salt water gargle-don't swallow the water.
Antibiotics are very appropriate. If you have analgesics (pain meds) they would be helpful, as well. Aspirin can control fever. ...Read more

Hello! My roomie is having a sore throat and fever. We bought some lozenges but she swallowed one instead of sucking on it. What can we do?
Not a problem:
When lozenges dissolved the mouth they wind up in the stomach. When you swallow it the lozenge dissolves in the stomach and is not a problem.
Zinc lozenges are proven to help though other types will relieve symptoms.
Also see if you can find Oral Health tincture from HerbPharm at a health food store and swish a dropperful in mouth (then swallow) every 2-3 hours.
If it persists check for strep. ...Read more

I'm already taking doxycycline for a skin rash. I have a sore throat and fever and was wondering if it will help?
Only if the throat..: If the throat has an infection caused by germs that can be killed by doxycycline, then the medication can help.
