Unlikely: Your young age and a short stint of smoking makes it unlikely. However, there is an increasing rate of head and neck cancer in young people related to human papilloma viruses probably related to oral sex. See an ENT doctor for complete examination. ...Read more

Months: If your symptoms are on and off for months you may have sinusitis - either from infection, irritants or allergens. Try using nasal saline (basically salt water) 8-10 times a day for a week or so and see if the symptoms improve or resolve completely. Be concerned: Not sure what rps is. The presence of throat pain radiating to the ear can mean an infection, throat ulcer, tumor, neuralgia, thyroid inflammation or tumor, vocal cord arthritis, etc. With your symptoms i assume the worst so suggest ENT exam of throat. ...Read more

Sinus infection?: cold symptoms for more than about 10-14 days may indicate a sinus infection or ear infection. The pain on one side could also be from an infected lymph node or tonsillar infection. Sinus infection?: If you have not noted any blood in your nasal secretion, then one must consider sinusitis as a potential cause.
