Not magic...: To improve damage to lungs from smoking, can take 1 week to 1 month for EACH year you smoked. The tissues have to regenerate & heal and the white cells in the lungs have to move the "deposits" out/corral them to free up lung tissue. Yes its normal: All the symptoms you're describing can happen after you stop smoking. You might also have gotten a viral infection. Yes: If you have ever been in or near a fire, and are inhaling smoke, you end up coughing, your throat and even lungs get sore. Cigarette smoking does the same thing, just in lower doses over a longer period of time. Irritation: Tobacco smoke is an irritant to tissues. You could be having pharyngitis from the irritation.
