Silver linings: Sometimes it takes feeling ill to help people really get serious about quitting. If so, it's doing you a favor. 34 is not too old to have the changes you make be very significant - you should be able to avoid COPD (a good choice!) Sore throat: All of these symptoms can be related to a common virus. For the moment it is advisable to use tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin for the pain and drink cold fluids including ice slurry drinks to soothe the throat. Not a good idea.: Marijuana smoke contains bronchial irritants. Inhalation with marijuana is more prolonged & deeper than with tobacco.
