While likely unrelated, as a sore throat can last many days in anyone, keep up the abstinence to continue the recovery! ...Read more

Sore throat in the morning, rarely have light brown mucus, usually happens after i smoke and stop smoking for a few days. Cold symptoms present?

Depends: Sporadic smoking can cause sore throat. Any amount of smoking can cause an increase in mucus production that could be off-white, greenish, brownish or clear. If you are feeling fine otherwise, then you most likely don't have a cold virus. If however you have a fever, chills, disruptive cough or other concerns, then you could have a cold or pneumonia and should see a healthcare provider. ...Read more

I've been coughing up phlegm in the morning after I wake up on and off for months, sometimes brown. My Dr. doesn't seemed concerned but still it persists. Also occasionally experiencing a minor sore throat.

No allergies to my knowledge and non-smoking,

Nasal saline: You may have post nasal drip, I would suggest a nasal saline rinse, and changing your pillow to a new foam filled pillow.

If it persists, a further evaluation is indicated.
