Sore Throat 2 Weeks No Other Symptoms
Is it possible too have strep throat with no fever and only moderate sore throat that's really red? No other symptoms just sore throat last 2 days
Sore throat, headache, fatigue, & malaise x3 wks. Sore throat has lingered for 4-4.5 wks. No fevers. Neg throat culture & mono test. Causes?
Posibilities: My first thought would focus on the nasal airway. If you have allergies/irritants/sinus swelling that narrows the nasal airway your mouth breathing during sleep will cause a sore throat. This can be aggravated in an environment like a heated house, because low humidity adds to the problem. A humidifier and generous use of nasal saline may give you some relief. ...Read more
Throat sore 2.5 days, no other symptom. Poss. Exposure to strep. Just looked--looks like canker sore surrounded by redness, s. Palate. No worry?
May be viral: If there is a single sore and you have no other symptoms (no headache, no stomach ache, no fever), the sore throat may well be a virus. Treatment for that is supportive. If you develop any of the above symptoms in addition, however, and do not have symptoms such as stuffy nose or cough, see your doctor to make sure you do not have strep. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

4 yo son recently diagnosis with strep (+ rapid) fever and sore throat are getting better after 24 hrs of abx. No cold symptoms but now has dry cough; related?
Maybe, maybe not.: Typically strep throat alone rarely produces cough--there is almost always something else involved when a cough joins an infected throat such an a sinus infection or 2nd illness (not previously appreciated until the strep begins to improve) such as mycoplasma. The antibiotic for strep will not treat mycoplasma infection; therefore, the best advice is to call your md noting this change in symptoms. ...Read more

Had 100-102 fever for a day. 2 days later developed pain in throat with some minor swelling of tonsils. No other symptoms. Strep or tonsillitis?
Fever sore throat: Would get a strep test because the complications of untreated strep can be significant, rheuamtic fever, rarely endocarditis. So would go to urgent care and do strep test or better have them send out a culture . Strep can cause tonsillitis , it is just a worse infection then just the sore throat Coudl also be from post nasal drip, viral , mycoplasma, reflux. But get a strep test ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
