Poor equipment fit: This obviously could be something else but the most likely reason is poor fitting equipment. Have you had the holes in your bowling ball professionally assessed? Try that. See your physician: Many patients get phlebitis (inflammation of a vein) in an IV site which usually responds to warm soaks and anti-inflammatory medication but it could also be infected. So showing it to your doctor would be the wisest thing to do. ...Read more

Arthritis: Few conditions can cause such symptoms including gout or rheumatoid. It doesn't sound like an infection but your still need to take your dad to his doctor for evaluation. Best wishes ...Read more

Please don't worry: I hope you don't spend too much time worrying. Motor neuron design disease does not cause a tremor nor swelling. It's strictly a motor phenomenon not associated with any sensory changes. You may want to discuss the situation with your primary care doctor so that the appropriate workup can be performed. Swollen joints: If one joint was swollen, i would be more likely to recommend er evaluation to rule out septic arthritis; a bad infection that attacks a joint. In your case, you are having pain in multiple joints all over the body. This is more likely indicating a systemic type of arthritis.
