Check with your Dr: if you were my patient, I would stop the Lipitor for 2 weeks to see if you've got better, and then restarted to see if he got worse. see a doctor: Pain in the rib cage can be due to costochondritis. This is an inflammation of the cartilage where the rib meets the sternum. If you press the spot does it hurt? Musculoskeletal: The fact that the pain gets better on its own after a while, speaks to muscle-bone pain that abates. Since it is noticeable after awakening, perhaps you should try changing the position you sleep in and see if that helps.
