Sore Neck After Drinking Alcohol
Interesting, No: "Is that normal": No. But, what is the mechanism? Not clear. Both sides, back of neck? Any other muscle involvement? If both sides and no other symptoms then maybe stress issues associated with drinking. Do you get migraine or tension headaches? If one side then maybe something to do with how you sleep. If other symptoms then possibilities expand. ...Read more

Abstain: Sorry, but the clear answer to this question is simple. Don't drink in excess. Better yet, don't drink alcohol. The health benefits are minimal, and the risks go far beyond head, neck, and back pain. Just like mom used to say, "if it hurts when you do that, then don't do that.". ...Read more
I don't know: It's clinical lore that alcohol causes depressive disorders. There is no evidence in the literature to support this. Alcohol is a CNS depressant, which is entirely different than saying a substance causes depressed mood. There are substances that have potential to cause depression (interferon), but alcohol isn't one of them. However, alcohol *intoxication* can cause mood lability (incl depression). ...Read more
Swollen lymph for ~10 yrs. Dr's told me are ok unless pain/growth. Used to get severe shoulder/neck pain after drinking alcohol ~5yrs ago. Related?
EtOH and Neck Pain: One theory is you might be experiencing glutamate excite toxicity, a neurological effect due to excessive sugars. I do suggest though, that if the pain persists or is over the right upper abdomen, CMD2Day ...Read more
