Possible: Could be from the flu shot, if the site of the shot is red and swollen beyond a silver dollar, I would be concerned about a possible infection. Try to ice the arm and if no better in a day , see a doctor. ...Read more

My calves are extremely tense and sore (for a couple months) and I have what appears to be a swollen lymph node (new) in my armpit. Connected?

Not likely: Any issues with the calves should not cause an enlarged lymph node in the axilla. As I suggested earlier, it would be prudent to consult a doctor to examine the mass in the axilla. ...Read more

Swollen lymph node in armpit for 3 days. Is tender and painful to touch?

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more

Patience Is A Virtue: If it's still there in 2-3 weeks, get it looked at.If it starts getting bigger get it looked at sooner.But...just get a good idea of its size and consistency and if it can be moved around or if it can't-visualize it--then leave it alone; don't bother it until you check it in a week if the same wait another week and if it's still there get it checked. If it gets worse before two weeks get it checked ...Read more

My left under arm lymph node turned back and blue and very sore 2 days ago. Now the other arm pit is black and blue as well. What's going on?

Need exam: This is an unusual presentation. Of course, you can't actually see a lymph node beneath the skin, so technically you are describing the skin overlying a lymph node turning black and blue. Trauma which wasn't noticed could account for this but with a lump and both sides...unlikely. This needs evaluation by your doctor. A careful physical examination will lead to the next needed diagnostic steps. ...Read more

Most causes of axillary lymphadenopathy are reactive in nature. A full medical history and physical exam should be performed. See your MD. ...Read more
