Sounds like you're: Dealing with a newborn and maybe have some physical sx's that an MD should evaluate. Also sounds like you're getting run down. Any help with baby duties? What happens when you have some down time? Or, is that out of the question? Do you have a partner? Can you express milk and have the partner administer and you rest? How's your nutrition? Too many? 's. See the MD first.

I have a lump in right arm pit and havea bit of trouble breastfeeding on that side, plugged duct, and soreness. Could the lump be related?

I have a lump in right arm pit and havea bit of trouble breastfeeding on that side, plugged duct, and soreness. Could the lump be related?

Yes: A plugged duct can be the trigger for mastitis which is an infectious process. It can start slow but can progress to fever and general symptoms almost like the flu, in addition to breast soreness and redness. The armpit is full of lymph nodes which will swell if there is an infection. Mastitis requires antibiotic treatment. An exam can determine if that is developing and if the two are related.

Mastitis: Sounds like it could be mastitis (infection of a milk gland). Contact your doctor to help with possibly antibiotics. Also use warm compresses and showers. Let ome o the milk run out.

I am currently 2 weeks postpartum, I did not breast feed...woke up this morning with a tender hard immovable lump in breast. What can this be?

I am currently 2 weeks postpartum, I did not breast feed...woke up this morning with a tender hard immovable lump in breast. What can this be?

Be examined: It may be a blocked milk duct but impossible to diagnose without an exam. See your doctor for an exam and consider an US. If it is red warm and tender it may be an area of infection. Try a cool pack and Tylenol (acetaminophen) for relief. All the best.

Ist dangerous to continue breastfeeding a child while having sore and on ones breast?

Ist dangerous to continue breastfeeding a child while having sore and on ones breast?

Use alternate: The answer really depends on what type of sore your have and where. Just to be on the safe side, consider nursing only on the unaffected breast. Pumping or manually expressing breast milk from the side of concern will help to prevent lactation issues. When healed, resuming feeds on both breasts should be fine.

1wk post-partum, chose to breastfeed baby. What can I use to naturally relieve the soreness of breastfeeding in between feedings?

Lanolin: One natural remedy is lanolin ointment. It is produced from sheep skin and a very good protective barrier that helps sooth skin and is not harmful to your baby.

I was breastfeeding but baby rejected my left breast. Do I have breast cancer. I do have a lump?

Get checked: Please see your gynecologist or family doctor. It is important that you worked up in person. If there is a lump, there can be other reasons besides cancer, like infection.

Sore throat, cough, which med is safe if breastfeeding &how to protect baby?

Sore throat, cough, which med is safe if breastfeeding &how to protect baby?

Vague question: We generally avoid salycelates and prefer Acetaminophen as a medicine for comfort if throat lozenges or menthol gum is not adequate. Antihistamine and decongestant containing cough meds can reduce your milk volume, so simple mucolytics are preferred. Baby was exposed to the germ before you became symptomatic, so s/he will either get it or not based on their tolerance to the germ.

WOW: My wife stopped at 13 months and I thought wow. As with my wife and son your baby is not getting anything at this point from the breast feeding except comfort assuming a regular solid food diet so it is time to stop. That said assuming there is no history in your family of malignancy I would see my obgyn to have it checked and proceed from there.

Sore throat: It could be contagious, hard to say without examining him, try to avoid as much close contact for a few days, wash hands routinely etc
