Warm saltwater.: Warm saltwater rinses 3-5/day will help reduce inflammation and make the area more comfortable. Ibuprofen 400mg every 4 hrs will do the same. Ice directly on the sore for 10 minutes 4-5 times/day is difficult but really works.
Eat only soft foods that are not spicy or hot to keep from irritating the area.
