Sore Behind Ears
Soreness behind ear on top of head and next to temple ride my bike about 30 km to work everyday with a bag on my back - could it be neck problem?
Tension: Could be muscle tension from the bag transmitted to that area, however given the location. Near the temple you need to see your doctor to rule out a potentially dangerous condition called temporal arteries which can affect your vision. If left untreated can cause blindness on the side which is irreversible.
Start with dental: Visit a dentist for xrays to eliminate wisdom teeth problems and go from there.
Rarely: Unless the mastoid sinuses are infected, the pain is not expected to be in the areas. I suspect that you may have a jaw problem from teeth grinding. Consult your dentist.
Soreness behind my ears, strain in neck, and shoulders crunch when rotating back. Doc says pain is from stress. Suggestions to relieve?
Cold pack: Try using a gel cold pack (or can try with pack of frozen peas/corn) in a light towel to the back of neck until warms or for about 20 min. Repeat as needed (just be sure to put pack / veggies back in freezer to get cold again). Should help reduce discomfort. Otc pain med (tylenol, advil, (ibuprofen) or aleve) can also help.
Hi iim Mary. Washed my hair in shampoo to make hair blonder. Since then my scalp isburning and sore mostly behind my ears. How can iI get rid of this?
Stop shampoo.: You may be allergic to an ingredient in the shampoo, and stopping the shampoo may be all that's necessary. If it persists you may need to see a dermatologist for an anti-inflammatory lotion or shampoo.
Cold sore like yellow blisters behind ears - painful & burning - usually get outbreak once a year - can I used cold sore cream to treat?

Enlarged lymph node: Usually viral or bacterial infection cause enlargement of lymph nodes. Usually gets smaller within week to ten days.See 1 more doctor answer
Lymph node: There are thousands of lymph node located around the body that help screen out germs in the body serum before it returns to the circulation. There are many in the neck, head ; behind the ear. At rest these are often 1/4 inch in diameter and may grow to marble sized when reacting to a stimulus. Bug bites, or viral infections can increase their size. They should shrink down to nl size over a few wks.
Depending: Depending on the location behind your ear, two possibilities could be an enlarged lymph node (although this shouldn't turn red) or a cyst. If it becomes large, hot, on has purulent drainage you may need to get it assessed for infection.
31 yr old female knot on mastroid bone behind ear for a month has not gotten bigger. Is not sore or moveable no other symptoms should I worry?
No.: A knot or lump in that area is probably an enlarged lymph node. Lymph nodes enlarge due to infection/inflammation typically. I only worry about cancer if nodes continue to grow over time. If it does not go away on its own within 2-4 more weeks, see a physician. But, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.
Wore a hard headband Saturday all day now behind ear is very sore to the touch. I'm also having a slight tingling sensation at times in that spot.?
Ear: You may have caused some irritation let it heal itself and it should be OK in a few days
Hard small bump under the skin below/behind right ear. May have gotten smaller overnight. But is still very sore and aching/painful.?
Send photo: Photo will help to see location: could be lymph node vs skin related issue/cyst vs tumor which would need evaluation.
Be seen: Be seen by a doctor. Might just be a ln from a viral illness, but could be other infection which might require medication.
Likely ringworm: It is likely to be a fungus infection like ringworm or athlete's foot, but it happens behind the ears. Get medicine for athlete's foot (lotrimin (clotrimazole) is one, there are several others). Apply a little of the cream to the area and rub it in twice a day and it should clear in 3-5 days. Use the cream again at the first sign of the rash coming back.
