What does it mean if lymph nodes are sore in both armpits?

What does it mean if lymph nodes are sore in both armpits?

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells/digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph everywhere for bad stuff like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more

More likely breast: Rather than lymph nodes, I suspect that you have a bit of "ectopic" breast tissue in your armpits. This is not terribly rare. Some women have breast tissue in the armpits. Just as the rest of your breast can get swollen and hurt before your period, so can this tissue. Best to see a doctor at this point in your cycle to be sure. ...Read more

I know breasts can be tender before menstruation but can armpit lymph nodes be tender and swell too during that time?

I know breasts can be tender before menstruation but can armpit lymph nodes be tender and swell too during that time?

Past history: That can happen to some people. Use your past menstrual history as a guide to determine if this is normal for you. Since you are 27 you have had many menstrual cycles. Periodic swollen lymph nodes under armpit. Tender to touch. Very small, can barely feel but it does hurt. 3rd occurrence. Different arms. ?

Hidradenitis: periodic swelling of glands in arm pit would be more clearly defined especially with relationship to causative factors such as a primary site of inflammation spreading to nodes. Also recurrence appearing at random at different sites and with glands so small they are difficult to palpate. Appears more likely to be inflammation of sweat glands in armpit possibly secondary to shaving. ...Read more

Could a small rash near my armpit that progressed to having small, dark centers and tender axillary lymph nodes be from a toenail fungus i may have?

Could a small rash near my armpit that progressed to having small, dark centers and tender axillary lymph nodes be from a toenail fungus i may have?

Spread of Fungus: I have never heard of spread of the fungus in athlete's feet/toenails to other body parts so it is probably rare. That being said it is an infection, and depending on personal habits, some spread makes sense. It is best to see a dermatologist for this anyway. They will probably culture both areas (or can) and see what they are healing with. Swollen lymph nodes should be taken seriously. Dr blake. ...Read more

If you have a cold, can the lymph nodes under your arm pits be sore? Thanks!

If you have a cold, can the lymph nodes under your arm pits be sore? Thanks!

No: Cold viruses may cause mild enlargement of nodes in the neck only.. Lymph nodes act as a trap or filter to prevent germs from spreading to other parts of the body, and in so doing become enlarged and tender. Cuts on your arm, or using a razor to shave the axilla, can introduce bacteria which get trapped by your lymph nodes. **See your Dr if swollen glands persist SEE:http://bit.ly/1E6i2EW ...Read more

My left arm has been sore and since yesterday. today I noticed that there was HUGE swollen spot of lymph nodes on the thumb side just below the elbow.

Lymph Nodes: That is not a typical place to find swollen lymph nodes and that isolated finding is not an obvious description of any common medical condition or infection. Without further information I cannot help with diagnosis but if it is huge swollen and worsening I would have a doctor look at it today. ...Read more

I have an enlarged axillary lymph node under my left arm. It is visibly noticeable and quite sore. I've often had enlarged lymph nodes while I was sick bit I feel fine and this one is quite a bit larger than usual.

Lymphadenopathy: Studies show that approximately 1.1% of primary care patients presenting with lymphadenopathy have malignancy. The axillary lymph nodes drain the breast, chest wall and upper extremity. Lymphadenopathy that is persistent >3 weeks should be investigated. Most causes of axillary lymphadenopathy are reactive in nature. A full medical history and physical exam should be performed. See your MD. ...Read more
