Sore Armpit After Needle
I have been waking up for the last two weeks with very sore pins and needles down my right arm. Mainly my hand. Thanks?
I had a blood test a few weeks ago and since then I have experienced a dead arm feeling, pins and needles, and now sore fingers. Should I be worried?
Not necessarily: Feeling pins and needles in the arm can be due to many different causes with the most likely being some compression of the nerves in the shoulder or arm from putting pressure onto the shoulder, elbow, or wrist. The procedure of having a blood test by itself should not cause these symptoms. If your symptoms continue and are not being relieved then please see a neurologist for a full neuro exam. ...Read more

Sudden sharp pain in neck followed by Pins and needles in arm. Felt like an elastic band had snapped. Neck still feels tender and had a few twinges?
See a PMR or ortho: Nerves from the neck travel to the arms, and stretching or pinching these nerves often produce these symptoms. Muscle spasm can arise from malposition of cervical vertebra, rapid stretch, or trauma, causing further symptoms. Pillows make a huge difference in providing support for the head over neck. EMG studies can tell if a pinch is present. ...Read more
I have been getting pins and needles down my right arm for 2 weeks now an it's now aching too also today a sudden onset in my right leg it feels like?
Neurologist: If the parasthesiae and aching were localised to the arm, I would suspect a nerve entrapment or compression by a cervical bulging disc or vertebral spur. However with leg involvement, I'm concerned about a possible left cerebral cortex disorder or even a left carotid artery blockage. I strongly recommend a consultation with a neurologist for diagnosis. Appropriate tests will be ordered. ...Read more

Brachial plexitis: Inflamation of your brachial plexus, group of nerves that come together as they are coming out of your cervical spine. This in my experience usually responds to a course of steroids, although for some reason the literature calls it "self limited". We usually don't know the cause, can be viral, due to a chronic inflamatory condition like lupus. Rarely due to spread of cancer. Should be checked. ...Read more

Had IV contrast 3days ago for MRI and arm has dull ache from shoulder to wrist, normal? Did bleed out a little after tech took needle out. Tiny bruise
Arm ache: This does not sound like a reaction to the MRI or contrast and I doubt that you developed a phlebitis from the IV puncture or insertion. Perhaps you were lying in an awkward postion for a lengthy time and sustained some sort of strain or sprain. If you can tolerate nsaids like ibuprofen, this would help. See your md if symptoms persist or worsen. ...Read more

Severe pain from neck into shoulder dull ache down right arm for 8 weeks now getting pins and needles in right hand is this a trapped nerve?
Need exam: Difficult to determine without an examination. Differential diagnosis could be cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve in neck), brachial plexopathy, peripheral nerve entrapment such as carpal tunnel syndrome (not uncommon for cts pain to travel up the arm), or even myofascial pain with trigger points. Would suggest physiatric evaluation for definitive diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more
