Melatonin: Some people confuse regular melatonin in material doses of 3-6 mg, with the "homeopathic" form -- manufactured in potencies of 12x, etc. Melatonin in material doses can induce sleep. Some may experience grogginess the next day with it, though. The "homeopathic" form is not a true homeopathic remedy because no provings have been done on it, and it may or may not correspond to your exact symptoms. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What are safe, effective herbal remedies for anxiety, muscle pain, sleep issues, migraines, and stomach issues?
I would suggest: A medical work up 1st to rule out any serious medical issues, followed by psychotherapy if there are no medical reasons for your multiple issues. Dr. Prescribed 15mg remeron (mirtazapine) as sleep aid for back pain. Not helping! causes grogginess, crazy dreams, and mood swing with no relief. Why?
Anxiety : This may be explained with having an anxiety disorder. If one is worried and anxious, one may have problems falling asleep. Thus, one may be tired during the day from receiving a poor nights sleep last night. There could be other conditions as well. I would consider making an appointment with a good doctor to help sort this out. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Alcohol?: What you are describing happens when you wake up from rem sleep. Melatonin has nothing to do with it, it is not an fda approved medication, and I am not sure why you are taking it. None of the medications you listed is expected to cause vivid dreams. Alcohol, and certain sleeping pills could do that. Recovering from sleep deprivation (long work nights) can precipitate it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
