Something Stuck In The Back Of My Throat
For about 4 wks now, I feel like I have something stuck in the back of my throat. I do have acid reflux. Could it possibly b post nasal drip instead?
It feels like theres something stuck to the back of my throat, it's causing discomfort and making it difficult to swallow. I thought it might be post ?
Globus Hystericus: Is the silly name given to this because it is usually described as "like a lump in my throat". It is actually evidence of an irritable nervous system. Visit my blog "oxygen, the spark of life" that you can google.
Whenever i swallow it feels like there is something stuck at the back of my throat, also whenever i drink both side of my jaw hurt. Should i see my GP?
Exam needed: Thanks for your question! I think you would benefit from a good and thorough history and exam. I would see your GP first. Hope you feel better!
Glomus sensation: Feeling like there's something stuck in the back of your throat, or glomus sensation, can be associated with many things, such as inflammation of part of the larynx/hypopharynx (part of the throat), cricopharyngeal spasm or gastroesphageal reflux (GERD). It can also be attributed to psycogenic causes and/or stress. I recommend you see your doctor for a complete history and physical exam.See 1 more doctor answer
It feel like something is stuck in the back of my throat sometimes it hurts like i tried to swallow to much food?
Globus Sensation: The "lump in the throat" sensation is often caused by inflammation of one or more parts of the throat, such as the larynx or hypopharynx, due to cricopharyngeal spasm, gastroesophageal reflux (gerd) ;, laryngopharyngeal reflux. There can also be a "pouch" in your esophagus (zenker's diverticulum) which can "catch" swallowed food. Barium swallow to check anatomy. Ent or GI depends on location.
I had a tonsillectomy 3 weeks ago and noticed my epiglottis is now visible and feels like something is stuck in the back of my throat. Is this normal?
Uvula: I think you are looking at the Uvula which probably was not very clear with the big tonsils that were removed You can not see the Epiglottis usually when looking at it through the throat Uvula is the soft protrusion of the back of the throat and it is totally normalSee 1 more doctor answer
Feels like something is stuck in the back of my throat, also have 1 tiny swollen lymph node. What is this?!? I also have anxiety, going on for 4 days.
Probably psyhcosomat: Most likley related to your anxiety if no other symptoms.Small lymph node not a problem if there is no change in size.If symtoms persist see md for evaluation.
It feels like I have something stuck in the back left of my throat. The area feels dry. I also have extreme acid reflux. What is this?
Severe GERD: Can be associated with a laringitis and a pharyngitis. Most probably you wake up at night during sleep with coughing and acid taste at your mouth. Avoid food like tomatoes or tomato sauce, acid fruits and juices, coffee, sodas, chocolate, alcohol, spicy and fatty food, broccoli etc. Avoid eating late a night specially large meals, try 6 smaller meals a day, loose weight, avoid tight cloths.See 1 more doctor answer
I have experienced severe bad breath for 5 years now. Itfeels like there is something stuck at the back of my mouth and throat that i can't get out. What should I do?
Consult ASAP!: There are many causes of bad breath. However, what deeply concerns me is what you feel in the back of your throat. It could be an infection or a growth. You should see an oral surgeon and\or an ear nose and throat specialist as soon as possible for an evaluation. These things can lead to serious complications and even be life threatening. Don't delay. Hopefully it is not serious.See 2 more doctor answers
I woke up this morning with the feeling that there is something like a "bubble" stuck in the back of my throat. When I feel my neck, it feels tender.
Subacute: thyroiditis. See endocrinilogist, usually harmless but it migHt give few symptoms for a few weeks
This could be a: Viral infection, strep throat, yeast etc. Med eval would help to differentiate. For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm >.
?Treated?: You are not considered contagious for strep after you have been on antibiotics for 24 hours. Your employer may of may not have other requirements, but this is the basic issue I use for clearing a patient to get back to work.See 1 more doctor answer
Common ones....: Typical symptoms: sore throat, fever of greater than 38 °c (100 °f), tonsillar exudates (pus on the tonsils), and large cervical lymph nodes. Other symptoms: headache, n/v, abdominal pain, muscle pain, or a scarlatiniform rash or palatal petechiae (small bleeding), the latter being an uncommon but highly specific finding. Consult doc if you have these symptoms..Good luck.
Few days to a week: Usually after 1 week most if the symptoms should clear.
Tips + antibiotics: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician & get a streph throat test. If you have streph throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future compications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day.
I have hfmd but my oral & throat symptoms are severe - it's difficult to eat and even drink. At what point should I seek medical attention?
If dehydration...: ...Is a possibility (8-12 hours without urinating, weakness, etc.) or any other symptoms develop, i'd suggest calling your dr then.
I have high fevers and chills only at night for the past 3 days. I have other lymphnode and throat symptoms but they are mild in comparison. ?
GetTheeToADoctorry..: Based on what you have written, it will be best if you see a doctor if this pattern repeats itself one or two more times or you start to feel worse before then. There is a host of things that may cause this (some serious) and so if it doesn't go away quickly, get it checked out. In the meantime take Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin for the fever and keep up with fluids and if you work, take a day or two off.
