Additional workup: I am presuming this was seen on an Ultrasound. The next step would usually be to an Ear Nose and Throat surgeon to do a biopsy as they are the specialty typically operating on the thyroid. There is another test called a thyroid uptake scan used to assess nodules but because there is only one and it is large enough to biopsy not likely needed.
