Seek Options: It's premature to schedule hysterectomy (removal of uterus) for a solid 6 cm ovarian mass. It may be benign (teratoma, cystadenoma, endometrioma, etc) versus malignant. Ultrasound can give info to grade these risks (nodules, septations types, etc) but cannot diagnose cancer. In fact, only tissue bx can DX cancer. Consider ovarian cystectomy vs oophorectomy, lsc vs open, & discuss with your gyn. ...Read more

Depends: Ask your gyn. A solid mass is concerning, but your age, menopausal status, and the ultrasound characteristics are important as well. Elevated ca-125 suggests ovarian cancer, but may be somewhat elevated in many benign conditions, as well, including endometriosis. All of this needs a discussion with your gyn and a possible referral to a gyn oncologist - who are the real experts in this area. ...Read more

9/11 found solid mass 2.5 cm. Ovary. 2/13 now it's 4.8 solid two part mass. Dr stated if under 5 CM they do not worry. I am 52 post menopause. ?

What is it? : The first thing you will need to ask is is the mass still present? If there is a 7 cm solid ovarian mass then most likely it needs to be removed. Discuss this option with your doctor.
