Soft Tissue Ct Scan Of Neck
Will a soft tissue CT scan of neck show a tumor in the tonsil? If cancer, would the tonsil get larger pretty quick? No swollen nodes.
Possibly: Why exactly did you get a ct scan? Most of the time a ct scan of the neck can identify a tumor or swelling. However, this depends on what type of scan was performed. A swollen tonsil may represent many things such as infection or cancer. Cancer generally grows slowly over a period of months/years.
Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! The image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more
That should not be: It is to find out what might be causing the problem. Are you having neck swelling?
It depends how you: Define 'upper'. The cervical esophagus (the part in the neck) is demonstrated, but most of the esophagus is in the chest.
REVISED- I developed a large neck swelling, with severe pain and sore throat at home after I had already taken a 10 day course of 300mg Clindamycin and condition worsened. Went to ER and was diagnosed with Group A Strep, CT Scan revealed soft tissue swe
Yes it will help: You need to show it to your doctor or go see an ENT specialist who can examine this swelling. A ct can be a confirmatory test which you doctor will order if needed.

It also depends on what was fractured, pedicals, facets, body, & the option 4 a brace is made on these factors, & how unstable the fracture is if @ all.
Many things: A radiologist looks at lymph nodes, the airway, blood vessels, glands, muscles, esophagus, upper lungs, bones, epiglottis, larynx, and a portion of the brain and sinuses. A ct scan of the neck could show both primary and secondary cancers (tumors that started in the neck and tumors that have spread to the neck from other parts of the body). I had a ct scan of neck, they saw small hypoechoic nodule in thyroid and an enlarged lymphnode, is it cancer?
Thyroid nodules: This is a very common finding, and the fact that it is small suggests lower risk. Usually under 1 cm they don't bother to biopsy, but perhaps with an enlarged LN in the area it might need it. Fine Needle aspiration biopsy can be safely and easily done perhaps with US guidance and a pathologist to evaluate the sample to ensure it is sufficient and triaged to the appropriate next steps. More info needed: May be a medication side effect, environmental issue, or underlying general medical condition. If you are taking any medication including over the counter meds, review the product information available. At age 39, an underlying medical condition is unlikely, but certainly not out of the question. If none of the easy answers help, consult an ENT Dr.
Ct scan uses data from a beam of xrays and reconstructs a cross sectional image of your body. It is a high dose of xrays and used only when the benefits outweigh the risk. Cancer risk is 1 in 500 in children. Also using iodinated contrast might cause transient renal failure in about 5% of patients. (contrast induced nepropathy) most do not explain this to the patient as ...Read more
