Will a soft tissue CT scan of neck show a tumor in the tonsil? If cancer, would the tonsil get larger pretty quick? No swollen nodes.

Will a soft tissue CT scan of neck show a tumor in the tonsil? If cancer, would the tonsil get larger pretty quick? No swollen nodes.

Possibly: Why exactly did you get a ct scan? Most of the time a ct scan of the neck can identify a tumor or swelling. However, this depends on what type of scan was performed. A swollen tonsil may represent many things such as infection or cancer. Cancer generally grows slowly over a period of months/years.

I had a ct scan of neck, they saw small hypoechoic nodule in thyroid and an enlarged lymphnode, is it cancer?

Thyroid nodules: This is a very common finding, and the fact that it is small suggests lower risk. Usually under 1 cm they don't bother to biopsy, but perhaps with an enlarged LN in the area it might need it. Fine Needle aspiration biopsy can be safely and easily done perhaps with US guidance and a pathologist to evaluate the sample to ensure it is sufficient and triaged to the appropriate next steps. I feel I have a "lump in my throat". I've had CT scan of neck, endoscopy, (reflux), take patonase for sinus drip. Had feeling over a year now.

Lump in throat: Have you had your thyroid and parathyroid glands evaluated? Is there anything abnormal with the esophagus or the uvula or palate? If the nasal spray works then it could simply be a component of post-nasal drainage that needs further medication intervention.

Throat feels tight, tongue feels dry. It's off & on. Went to ER, then doc. CT scan of neck showed nothing. Swallow is a chore, feels heavy. No fever. Y?

More info needed: May be a medication side effect, environmental issue, or underlying general medical condition. If you are taking any medication including over the counter meds, review the product information available. At age 39, an underlying medical condition is unlikely, but certainly not out of the question. If none of the easy answers help, consult an ENT Dr.
