Wha does this mean, soft tissue densities within mastoid cells, middle ear cavity and sphenoid sinus and calcific density in brain paren occipital reg?

Nonspecific: Soft tissue densities in the normally air filled mastoid, middle ear and sinus cavities indicates there is some type of chronic, long term inflammation in those areas. It could indicate chronic infection, as well. It depends on your clinical condition and how severe those findings are to really give you an idea of what this means to you. I have bronchitis when I was young. I am smoking. And my recent X-ray found calcific granuloma on my upper right lung. What could cause my granuloma?

I have trouble swallowing but not all the time. Sometimes I really have a hard time swallowling and other x no problem. I had CT scan show small calcific densities in right lobe of thyroid gland. Could this be the cause even though I don't kno what the ct

Need evaluation: There are many possible causes for your current symptoms. Although the ct showed "small calcified densities in the thyroid", it still might not be the cause for your difficulty swallowing. The next step would be a thyroid u/s to see if these "densities" are in a nodule and to see how many nodules & how big they are. Get the ct result, sit down with your doc and discuss the next step of evaluation. ...Read more

Calcium in lung: How was it diagnosed, by CXR, or by CT-MRI. Presence of CA, is always abnormal.
Because of the numerous structures in the upper chest, x-rays may show several shadows in normally clear areas. Reasons can range from the benign (rib shadows, anatomic anomalies), to more serious, including active infections (pneumonia, TB), old scars (healed TB), malignancies, and other diseases. Either way, suspicious densities should prompt your physician to pursue additional tests, which may include additional x-rays or CT scan. ...Read more
