Soft Movable Lump In Front Of Ear
Small internal lump in front of ear & invisible I'm 18 years old got waxing some days back. Is it a tumour? Will this grow? Size is same since 3 days.
Is a tumor: The most common structure in front of the ear is parotid gland. It presents as a small lesion in the anterior lobe sitting just above branches of the facial nerve or as a larger lesion possibly with nodes. One must assume this is parotid and on basis of clinical findings and incidence, that it is benign. H&N surgeon should evaluate and if dx confirmed then surgical resection. ...Read more

What is the lump near my ear? I found it right in front of the lobe and it feels painful to touch, I found it 3 days ago. It's semi hard but moves
Preauricular node: The fact that you can move it argues that it is not attached to the skull. You likely had an infection in that region of your body and the cells there gave up their lives in their "last full measure of devotion" to protect you. If it doesn't go down soon, see your doc. ...Read more

Likely a lymph node: There are a number of lymph nodes scattered around the back of the head and neck where they are easily found. At rest they may be the size of a pea and when stimulated they are often bean sized or larget. Size often changes over weeks ; often reflects bug bits, skin rashes or throat irritation, it is not likely related to headaches, nausea or dizziness. Your doc can confirm this. ...Read more

Lump underneath left ear and pain going up from there in front of ear to temple. Pain is more noticable to touch. Something serious?
I just found a small lump in front of my right ear, what tests should I have done to determine what it is? I have had no symptoms clearly related to this, or prior medical conditions.
This: This can be several things. Most common--a lymph node. They aften get larger with inflammation and should go down when the inflammatin is gone. This is the area of the parotid gland, one of the major salivary glands (it gets big in kids with mumps). The gland can get tumors--most are not cancer, but they need to be evaluated (ultrasound, ct scan, possible biopsy with a needle, and removal with sugery). A less common cause would be a cyst that is a remnant form your embryologic developement (preauricular cyst/sinus or type 1 branchial cleft cyst). ...Read more

Moveable painless lump in front of neck between my r ear and chin. No other symptoms. Been there 5 plus years. Should I be worried that its cancer?
Lymph node: If it has been there and is unchanged for 5 years, cancer is unlikely. That area would be common for a benign reactive lymph node. Also possible to have a lipoma or other benign cyst. Mumps?: In light of recent flair-ups in mumps cases, do you have any fever? If not mumps are unlikely--especially unilaterally. Do you have an inflammation in your scalp because this could cause an inflamed lymph node in front of your ear. It is not cancer. I would observe it for changes in size or degree of pain for another few days. It will probably go away by itself. ...Read more
