I have a small bump (maybe cyst) on my pubic area that will puss sometimes. Should I be worried? What can it be?

Maybe? Infection?: In the pubic area, this is most likely an infected hair follicle or small skin abscess. It could be due to MRSA a very common and painful staph infection seen commonly today. You may have a sebaceous cyst as well. If it were lower down on the lips of the vaginal area, one would be concerned with a bartholin's cyst. Use lots of soap and water, antibiotic ointment and observe. If worse get seen. ...Read more

Bump on crease where leg meet pubic area. Herpes or cyst? Happened right after i shaved

Bacterial infection?: It could be a small bacterial infection or ingrown hair. Use warm soaks several times a day and see a doctor if it gets worse. This shaving trend worries me. Besides making people look like jail-bait, it can increase the risk of bacterial infections, including mrsa. I've seen some nasty cases in which men lost parts of their body they wanted to keep. If you don't like pubes, trim, don't shave! ...Read more

Reoccurring cyst on right side above pubic hairline on male can sometimes get smelly pus out of it

Reoccurring cyst on right side above pubic hairline on male can sometimes get smelly pus out of it

Hello. : Hello. This sounds like a bacterial infection. It could have started with an infected hair follicle. Staphylococcus aureus is often the cause. You can place warm compresses on the cyst for 20 to 30 minutes at a time. Replace the compress as it cools. This can be done every few hours. Since this is a recurrent problem, recommend that you see your regular doctor or a dermatologist to determine the cause. Don't handle, lance or squeeze it as that can cause the infection to spread. If you get redness, swelling and warmth in the surrounding skin - it could be a sign of cellulitis. Take care. ...Read more

I keep on getting ingrown hair follicles that turn into red, sensitive cysts in pubic region, they go down but swell back up. How do I stop this?

Stop shaving: Like many young people today, I'm guessing you shave your pubic area. This sounds like typical folliculitis due to shaving. It can be a particular problem in the pubic area (more than the face) because of greater bacterial colonization in that part of the body, and because curly hair is more likely to ingrow after shaving. If hair removal is important to you, consider a non-shaving method. ...Read more

Probably: I would expect a slow and steady improvement . You probably have a small bruise, hematoma or other post-traumatic injury in the area. If there is some tolerable pain that is gradually improving, then don't sweat it. Tell your brother he owes you a meal! ...Read more
