Granfather was prescribed kayexalate (sodium polystyrene sulfonate) 60gm and then 45gm today and 45gm tomorrow. Shouldnt he be having bm? How long does it take to start workingk?
Kayex not for BM: Kayexalate (sodium polystyrene sulfonate) is a polystyrene salt resin designed to grab onto the excess potassium (dangerous for heart) while in the intestine. It is not to facilitate bm-it actually increases chance of constipation. So, if he is not having bm, don't rely on kayex to help with that.
