Any "azole" product: If you have had yeast infections before, the symptoms are similar, and if not at risk for STDs, self treatment is safe. Any "azole" vaginal cream or insert will work (miconazole, terconozole, clotrimazole, several others). Or single dose fluconazole (Diflucan) by mouth. All are equally effective, so select the cheapest and/or most convenient for you. Find a way to see doctor if it doesn't work. ...Read more

Hi there can a yeast infection in men be painful & hurt to pee & I am using canesten hc cream for it how long will it take to work?

Probably not yeast: Yeast infections are uncommon in the male genital tract. This symptoms makes me concerned about an STD, if you are at risk (new or unsafe partner, etc); or about a non-STD urinary tract infection. If you are under a doctor's care, check back with him or her. If not, i.e. treating yourself with Canestin, stop immediately and see a doctor. Your nearest NHS GUM clinic would be an excellent choice. ...Read more

Took Monistat 7 - have heavy bleeding after one dose - I have had a yeast infection for awhile I believe. When the cream came out - so did blood.

Something else: Heavy bleeding is not usually associated with a yeast infection or monistat. It is possible you tore your vagina with the applicator. That would have caused pain in addition to bleeding. Since this is not a typical yeast infection, you should not try treating it yourself any more. See your doctor or an urgent care clinic today. ...Read more

Male with possible yeast infection. Not std. If i treat it with otc cream and its NOT a yeast infection will that give me one by imbalancing bacteria?

No: If it fails to resolve and you are at risk, be seen and have other cultures. Yeast lives in our bodies and occasionally will overgrow or come out on a surface. You will not upset your normal flora by using a cream for yeast. All the best. ...Read more

I have yeast infection. I have taken Diflucan (fluconazole). have a cream called Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate...Will this work?? And how fast??

The cream you're: using will ease your symptoms fairly quickly (~24 hours) but getting rid of the infection will take longer (up to 7 days). If you're still having discharge or itching 1 week after taking the Diflucan, (fluconazole) you may need a second treatment or a different treatment. Recurrence, resistance and re-infection are very common with yeast vaginitis. -( ...Read more

The 3 day yeast infection cream that was given to me by my doctor is working but it's working very slowly . Is that normal?

Yes ; no: It depends upon what you mean by "working very slowly". Assuming that your doctor looked under the microscope to confirm your yeast infection (or at the very least, did a vaginal speculum exam), any of the various prescription ; otc yeast medications should work. However, you may have another concurrent infection that doesn't respond to the yeast medication. So it's best to follow up w/your doc. ...Read more
