I crushed up and snorted less then. 5 Klonopin (clonazepam) Friday afternoon. It stuffed up my nose and I felt nothing.... I did urine screen tues. Will I fail?
Klonopin (clonazepam) belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines. They are also referred to as sedative-hypnotics & anxiolytics. These medications are used for a variety of indications to include anxiety, insomnia, muscle spasm, seizure, & alcohol withdrawal. All benzodiazepines including Clonazepam are potentially habit forming. Alcohol should be ...Read more
About a day: Klonopin's clinical effects last about twelve hours, so it most likely is gone after about thirty six hours from your blood stream. If you are inquiring about this for drug tests, keep in mind that this is general information from my practice, and may not be correct for you or your situation. ...Read more

A few days:
Klonopin (clonazepam) has a half life of 30-40 hours, so your body will eliminate half of the drug in about 2 days. It can take 5-7 half lives for a drug to be completely our of your system. The drug might still be detectable in your urine for up to 5 days.

I took 7, 1mg clonazepams over a span of 8 days. I took my last one last night (Thurs) and I have a UA test on tues. Will it show?
I took my last 0.5mg klonopin at noon today. My dr is now prescribing me 1mg ativan instead. How long should I wait before taking the ativan?
Benzodiazepines: Both those drugs are Benzodiazepines. They are scheduled drugs and can be addicting, so must be prescribed and monitored with caution. The Doctor who prescribed them for you, would be the one best to tell you exactly when you should take them, especially after stopping the one, to Rx the other. This is best, for your "continuity of care" and assures the prescribing Doctor is aware of your case. ...Read more
I've been on 1mg clonazepam for 2 months daily. I feel more anxious the past week or so? I don't want to increase dose. But it's not as effective? Why?
Will taking 1mg klonopin (clonazepam) 2 days in a row and then not on the 3rd day cause withdraw symptoms? I'm trying to take it just a few times a week.
1mg dose of klonopin (clonazepam) lasts for about 8 hours. Half life 18-60 hours. The half life seems meaningless if it only therapeutically works 8 hrs. Explain?
Therapeutic: Of course these are just standards for a general population. But, therapeutic levels represents a blood concentration that is high enough to see the effect of the medication still working. Blood levels of the chemical/drug/medicine are detectable but not at a level to provide with the well known effect of the medication. ...Read more

You will be fine: Your answer about contacting the doctor was not completed. Not clear if you were able to contact. That is the correct thing to do. Another option is to go to your pharmacy and explain your situation. The pharmacist can attempt to contact your doctor on your behalf. Either way, you will most likely manage between Thanksgiving and Friday, when you can get your script filled. ...Read more
Probably OK: The question is whether they interact metabolically or have additive side effects. Paroxetine (Paxil) inhibits enzyme 3A4, the metabolism (break down)path of clonazepam (Klonopin) WEAKLY, insignificant unless you have rare genetic limitation of 3A4. But each of these meds may cause drowsiness--be careful--test them before you try driving, and don't become sleep deprived. ...Read more
Taper: I would taper it over a couple of weeks. Take 3/4 for 5 days, 1/2 for 5 days, 1/4 for 5 days and then stop. That will prevent any physical withdrawal. Of more concern would be recurrence of the underlying anxiety. Many antidepressants work well for anxiety (e.g. Paxil, (paroxetine) mirtazepine, and effexor). ...Read more
What is the usual recovery time from using benzos on a daily basis for 6 months (1mg clonazepam)?
Depends: This depends on several factors. Most important is the reason that the clonazepam was taken in the first place, completely resolved. It is possible that other types of medication and or psychotherapy may have been successfully utilized and the problems are resolved. In this case gradually tapering the clonazpam perhaps to 1/2 mg/day and then even to 1/4 mg over a few weeks would do the trick. ...Read more
What is the normal dose for clonazepam to battle anxiety. I was put on 1mg daily. Is that high?? Too much??
1mg/day may be ok: Clonazepam is a long acting benzodiazxepine in the same family as alprazolam (xanax); however it is much longer acting with a half life of up to 30-36 hrs. Many patients do fine on 1mg/day but other need up to 3-4mg per day, depending upon the severity and pattern of their anxiety and their individual metabolism, as some folks are rapid and some are slow metabolizers for clonazepam. ...Read more
What medications do u recommend for clonazepam withdrawal? . I'm taking 1mg per day, recently down to. 75 mg. Thx
A ways to go, yet: You have a slow and gradual way to go. Your physician, who knows you and your condition best, is the best one to develop a taper schedule with you. Compounding pharmacies may be needed to prepare certain dosing increments. Klonopin (clonazepam) is quite potent, and even small reductions can result in symptoms. Hopefully your basic anxiety is under good control with non-pharmaceutical methods. Good luck! ...Read more

If taking 5mg generic lexapro (escitalopram) and 1mg generic klonopin on same day, how far apart should they be spaced out?
If I took 1mg klonopin (clonazepam) 4 days ago, how soon can I have alcohol? I have never been on meds before and it's as needed only.
Should be fine: That is a while ago, there may be some Clonazepam still in your system although at this point there would be very little. It should be okay to consume alcohol in moderation at this point. I would not advise taking any Clonazepam and consuming alcohol together simultaneously or in the same day. I would talk with your prescribing physician more about your concerns. Stay safe! ...Read more

Was on klonopin (clonazepam) 1mg for a month. Tapered over 6 months. Done now. Why can I expect from withdrawal and how long will it last?
Tapered from 1mg of clonazepam to 0.5 for the last 3 months. When I feel too anxious can I take 1mg just one time? Will it hurt the tapering?
If your doctor is: Tapering your dose, he or she should ALSO be telling you how to manage your anxiety without it, either through other medications (like buspirone or antidepressants) and/or through non-pharmacological management techniques like relaxation therapies, meditation, yoga and others. Please talk to your doctor and/or get a referral to a therapist. Taking it ONCE won't hurt taper, but more often will. ...Read more
I'm on Clonazepam 1mg and it makes me feel tired throughout the day. I do not take it every day. Would a shorter lasting benzo be a good option?
Not necessarily: Clonazepam has more than it's fair share of sedating side effects. Valium has less even though it is even longer acting. Mos of the shorter acting agents are also less sedating but if you are taking the pills regularly and not as needed, you may not want to sacrifice stability ...Read more

Klonopin (clonazepam): The elimination half-life of Klonopin (clonazepam) is 18-50 hours. Since it takes 5 of these half-lives to eliminate the substance from your system, this would be 5 x 50 = 250 hours or a little more than 10 days at the latest. Faster metabolism could eliminate the medication closer to the shorter estimation point. We don't know about your own system, though. Best wishes. ...Read more
My Dr. Told me at my follow up appt that he no longer prescribes the meds I have been on for years. It was klonopin (clonazepam) 1mg. He didn't refil. Bad pt. Care?
Not neccessarily: Your physician may have seen a negative outcome in one or more patients & or read literature that has caused him to be leary to prescribe Klonopin (clonazepam). If you were to stop Klonopin (clonazepam) - it is best to taper off it under medical supervision. While some prescribers remain open to long term use of benzodiazapines others limit it to short term use. If you feel strongly about the need to remain on Klonopin (clonazepam) - ...Read more

Klonopin (clonazepam) generics: If you've only tried one generic version on Klonopin (clonazepam) see if another would work as well as the branded drug worked. If that doesn't work, you should ask the doctor who prescribed Klonopin (clonazepam) what they would like you to try in it's place since as a benzodiazapene drug there are many other in that class that might help you.
