Should improve: Depending onhow long and how much you smoked. Could take weeks or months. In longtime smokers it may never go away completely. A pulmonary function test will guide your doctor on proper treaent and allow him to give you your odds. ...Read more

I've been tested thoroughly for asthma&i don't have it.@bball after running only 5 minutes i started wheezing, short of breath&cudnt breath.Not first time?

Exercise asthma?: If you test only included spirometry without a challenge (rapid exercise) something may have been missed. Could there be other issues working (ie out of shape, anemia, overweight, etc.)? Sometimes it is a matter of excluding all possibilities before coming to a conclusion. ...Read more

asthma symptoms: Butterfly, it sure sounds like you have asthma. No matter the family history, cough can be the only symptom of asthma, but with wheezing i believe you have the diagnosis. See your doctor for pulmonary evaluation and likely medication. ...Read more

On 250/50 advair/albuterol. Third time I've stopped mid-run because of serious shortness if breath, wheezing, and coughing.  Change or up medication?

Go see your doctor: Advair 250/50 is different from & does not contain albuterol. Advair is a combination of an inhaled corticosteroid and a long acting beta agonist while albuterol is a short acting one. Advair is used to prevent asthma attacks while albuterol is used to rescue you from one. If you've had 3 attacks despite advair, you need to check w/your doc.
