25 yr old, 9 year smoking history, bloody boogers and when make myself cough or clear throat, I have isolated blood streak lung cancer? ?

Probably not....: Blood-tinged sputum is typically caused by bronchitis, which is an infection in the lung airways. You could also have post-nasal drip and the blood is from the nose or sinuses. You need to quit smoking ASAP as this is contributing to inflammation in the airways which predisposes you to acute bronchitis. See your doctor for diagnosis/treatment and to help you quit smoking! ...Read more

I quit smoking a year ago and still cough up mucus with black flecks in it. Is this normal?

Black Flecks & Mucus: Coughing up black flecks is not a normal condition. It reminds me of black lung disease that is typically found in coal miners. Florida does not have coal mines, so i would not expect this finding. I would see a physician, get a chest xray and if possible save a sample of the coughed up mucus to be checked out. ...Read more

I have had a cough for years quit smoking a year ago still have cough and pains under left breast?

Suggest evaluation: Nice job quitting smoking! having a cough for that long suggests that you should have a physical exam and history with a health professional. Cough may be simply from post-nasal drip, or acid coming up from stomach. But could also be from asthma or other lung problem. Talk to a provider about all the issues, including pain near left breast. ...Read more

Blood in saliva. None when I cough. Diagnosed w/ GERD. Did test and lungs are fine. Quit smoking over one year ago. ?

Several thoughts: If a person has blood in saliva, but non on coughing, it suggests the blood is either coming from the gastrointestinal tract or the sinuses and nasopharyngeal area. Possibilities include bleeding gums, nose bleed, tumors in the sinuses /nasopharyngeal area. Reflux esophagitis or other lesions in the esophagus or stomach can cause blood in saliva. If it persists see ENT Dr first,If ok> GI Dr next ...Read more

I am a 24 yr old smoking male. When i wake up in the morning i cough up this clear, bubbly like mucus. ?

Early warning: This is your body reminding you that it is very unhappy with the fact that you are poisoning your lungs and the rest of your body with the products of smoking. I stopped smoking two months ago and i still cough up sputum sometimes in the morning. Will it ever go away completely?

Yes: People who smoke tend to produce an excessive amount of mucus as their bodies attempt to protect against the toxins in the smoke, when they stop smoking it often takes months for the excessive mucus production to return to normal. Trying to stop smoking. When i smoke it hurts in my lungs. And i want to cough really bad. What could cause this? I am 19 years, soon to be 20
