Have open gash about 1.5cm long on face. Don't think need stitches. Keep it moist with Vaseline until body heals, or let it dry and scab over quickly?
Need more info: How deep is the wound.? How old is the wound? Where is it located? Must keep the wound clean. To minimize visible scarring need to see a doctor to see if it can be closed with fine sutures or surgical glue. If it is more than 24-48 hrs old then may have to allow to close on its own. Be careful!: I am not a fan as it is well-known that 20% of patients who use neosporin regularly will become allergic to it! applying any of these products to a scar is useless and there are safer products to use on wounds (polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) or bacitracin, for example). Probably: Not clear what you mean by gaping, but this area generally heals VERY well if not infected. And it is usually not possible to stitch again. If you are having significant drainage, pain, or fever, you should be seen. Otherwise, apply a warm compress for at least 10 minutes about 6 times a day to give it the best chance of healing.
