Many possibilities: It could be from an infection in the tooth from trauma, small fibroma (benign), spot of irritation from fingers. best way to rule out infections is to visit your dentist and have an xray to determine if there is an intra-boney infection. if you can wipe it off it might be the start of a yeast infection ...Read more

Thanks : Thanks for the detailed information. It appears that you make an attempt to keep your mouth healthy. There are several things that can cause a recurrent swelling but in this case the most likely reason is that the nerve in the tooth associated with the swelling has died and you are experiencing recurring infections. Once the swelling gets large enough it may open up discharging the abscess allowing it to deflate and the gum tissue to appear to heal. To resolve this problem see your dentist as soon as possible so that he can confirm this with an exam and xrays. The treatment for this problem is a root canal. I doubt that this is an std or a cancer as you seem to be concerned about, but without an exam it is impossible to rule out these possibilities. ...Read more
