I have some small red itchy bumps on the back of my hand. They come and go every week or so. What is this?
Hand eczema: The most common causes are irritant (too much hand washing) or contact allergy. Red itchy bumps: If you haven't already, start with avoiding any hard scrubbing or washing with soap on those areas. Use a daily barrier ointment like aquaphor immediately after shower. You can also try a otc steroid ointment for a week or so to see if it improves. It can be due to cloth or chemicals in pants, just to give a few examples. Wear non-tight pants; when itchy, apply Sarna with pramoxime. Otherwise, keep dry with cornstarch or talc.
