My son has a small pea sized lump 3" below his right armpit its very soft and does not hurt its been 3 wk and he's is 12. He has only mild allergies?
Hmmm...: It could be a benign lymph node, but if soft, smooth and painless, probably a lipoma, a benign little "tumor" of fat under the skin. I have a lump under each armpit. One has gotten smaller and the other just showed up. They are painful to touch. They are small pea sized lumps and hard?
I'd Bet It's Sweat: May be small areas of infection. Sweat glands can get irritated or clogged then get bigger & painful. For some people it can become a big recurring problem so best to get it examined if, unlike the other side, it doesn't resolve in a few days. Until then, see if you are sensitive to your deodorant. The topical antibacterial gels with aloe work well but if you sweat a lot you may need something milder. ...Read more

Small, not quite pea size hard lump underneath right armpit. Does not hurt, does not form visible bump, no color. Had over a year. Cyst, ingrown hair?
Probably a cyst: Cysts are small, firm bumps under the skin that are filled with keratin. When squeezed, some will produce the keratin which is white, cheesy and sometimes stinky. If it is not causing problems or growing, we tend to leave them alone, but it is important for your doctor to confirm the diagnosis. Sometimes, if it is not clearly a cyst, we can biopsy the spot to be sure. ...Read more

Check with Doc: Breast masses are common. Most of the time they are benign. They should always be checked out with your doctor. The evaluation may involve a mammogram and an ultrasound as well as an examination. Unless they become large and bothersome, most sebaceous cysts can be left alone.
