My 19 mo. Old has small lump on right side of neck, hard but slippery. Healthy, bit of allergies, had a bug bite close to that area a few days ago.
Likely reactive: Lymphadenopathy or a lymph node that is swelling in response to the bite. As long as it remains small, less than an inch and is mobile and starts to resolve with time, it will be fine. If not, let your doctor take a look. All the best. ...Read more

Right side of neck bulges out. Not a small lump like a swollen node. The side of the neck actually bulges out. Slight discomfort. Muscle? Tumor?
Could be trapped air: This may sound crazy but I've seen something like this before. In some people if there is a small tear in the lining of the airways or throat air can escape and enter into the tissue. This is known as subcutaneous emphysema. This is more common after some sort of trauma. See your doctor and get appropriate studies. ...Read more

I have a small lump on the left side of neck and it's located near left side of ear. It hurts at times and is increasing in size. What is this?
Access vs lymph node: If it is red and hot, then it may be an abscess or infection. It could also be a lymph node. If you have any head cold symptoms, this could just be a reactive lymph node, which is the body's way of gathering white blood cells to fight the infection. If you are feeling otherwise well, then it should be checked out, with possible labs, imaging and/or a biopsy. ...Read more
