See a doctor: This could be a cyst, a small abscess, a necrotic lymph node from a variety of conditions. You must be examined and treated by a physician. Good luck. ...Read more

Enlarged lymph node : Could be enlarged lymph node. You can develop these if you have any type of infection on that arm, ranging from torn cuticle or infected splinter to significant injury. A physician would need to exam you to be sure and likely you would have a blood test meauring your WBC count. ...Read more

What causes my underarm to be painful? I do not know if it's a pimple but it's sort of a small lump but it's hard to explain. Help please.

Likely a boil...: I suspect you have a boil under your arm (it is like a giant zit). Under the hair (hair follicle) an abscess/infection can form and as it enlarges, it causes that sore lump. It can be quite painful. I would recommend talking to your parents (as you are only 16?) about it so that they can call your doctor to have it checked out and treated. Good luck. ...Read more

I have a small round lump about the size of a pea under the skin of my underarm its painless but should I get it checked?

Possibly: Most likely it is just an enlarged lymph node. If its been there for a short time you would most likely be ok with waiting an seeing if it goes away within the next week. If it becomes painful, swollen, res or you develop fevers then be seen sooner. If its been there a while then consider having it eyeballed by a doctor. ...Read more

Many possibilities: While i recommend that you see a doc to be checked, sometimes the glands in our armpits can become irritated, inflamed and/or infected. Sometimes we use antibiotics, warm compresses and sometimes you need to have them lanced. For definite treatment however your doc needs to see what he is dealing with. Good luck. ...Read more

Possible staph: Many causes of painful inflammatory conditions of the intertriginous zones of the body (e.g. skin folds). One major cause is recurrent colonization with staph (bacteria) due in part to the local environment which is ideal for bacterial growth. If you are shaving your armpits, you may be introduction bacteria by using or re-using razors which cause trauma of the skin which can lead to "bumps". ...Read more

Abcess.: Sounds like you have a small abcess. Pain may be relieved by incision although it is by no means necessary. May use hot compresses several times a day until this "points" and ruptures on its own. The fact that pain is bad indicates that may be soon. It is remotely possible that this is a lymph node that has been very stimulated. Same treatment. See someone if not improving. ...Read more

Lymphadenopathy: The doctor examining you is in the best position to make these decisions. Lymph nodes enlarge when they are doing what they are there for, fighting inflammation, and have some characteristics that can only be assessed by examining them. That is what your doctor is trained to do and she should be listened to. Best wishes. ...Read more
