Small dark hairs on the chin of a young female. Why?

Small dark hairs on the chin of a young female. Why?

Depends on age: It is normal for girls to have fine (vellus) hair on the face. At puberty, some girls will develop a few dark (terminal) hairs as circulating hormones (estrogen, testosterone) increase. Heredity is a strong predictor of facial hair and it is common for women in certain ethnic groups. Heavy facial hair (hirsutism) is abnormal especially if accompanied by voice change, irregular periods and balding.

Hirsutism: You should see your GP to be evaluated for endocrine problems. Ovarian or adrenal dysfunction can cause hair growth you describe, or it could be normal. If no problem is found you can consider having the hair removed by cosmetic means. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

I've been breaking out, noticing darker hair on my neck/chin, & my lady area has been itching. I'm on BCP, what's going on? Also who should I see?

GYN endocrinology: Androgenic changes. If menstrual periods are normal, hormones are probably normal. Genetic factors may be in play. OC progesterone might be a factor. If hormones are normal, no endocrine tumor, then the usual therapy is antiandrogen pill. Spironolactone at 100mg a day is a standard treatment.

I was born with a mole on my head, I was told. I have no idea where. I have long, thick, dark hair, and am female. Is mole likely to turn into melanoma?

Statistically most: moles do not become melanoma. However, it should be checked periodically by you and by your doctor and/or a dermatologist. Certainly if you notice it changing, once you figure out where it is, you should definitely have it looked at.

I am a young female with thinning hair. My blood work is healthy but I am under lots of daily stress. Can I massage my head to help it get more blood?

I am a young female with thinning hair. My blood work is healthy but I am under lots of daily stress. Can I massage my head to help it get more blood?

Yoga and massage?: A lot of stress means it is more than ideal. When you are stressed, the survival mechanism kick in, we produce more adrenalin, our metabolism and energy demand of the brain goes up, and our muscles tense-up. Traditional massages by qualified technicians will relax our muscles, reduce stress, and increase blood supply to our vital organs. There are special scalp and neck massages for relaxation.

I have small, dark (my hair is dark brown) hairs growing all over my body. Under chin, buttocks, stomach, even my cheeks, forehead etc! Is this bad?

I have small, dark (my hair is dark brown) hairs growing all over my body. Under chin, buttocks, stomach, even my cheeks, forehead etc! Is this bad?

It depends: Whether this is a problem or not depends on when this started. If you have had this since childhood or early adolescence or if this is seen often in your family/geographic region, it may not be any problem, just genetic. If you never hand hair growing in any of those areas or if the hair was fine, small and light colored and recently turned darker or more coarse, this needs an evaluation by derm.

Is it normal for a female to have 5-10 coarse dark hairs around navel/1 or 2 on chin/a couple lighter brown ones on the breasts? (around nipple)

Is it normal for a female to have 5-10 coarse dark hairs around navel/1 or 2 on chin/a couple lighter brown ones on the breasts? (around nipple)

Could be PCOS: Hair growth on your face or stomach in women (hirsutism) is often a sign of polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos) which affects 8-10%. We diagnose pcos with an ultrasound scan & blood tests, looking for adrenal gland problems or other causes of hirsutism. Pcos may lead to a higher chance of getting diabetes. See a reproductive endocrinologist if hair growth continues or if your periods are irregular.

I am a 45 year young lady and every now and again my head starts nobbing and neck gets stiff. What can cause nobbing of the head. Thank you?

Neck pain/ stiffness: I am sorry but I only know two definitions for 'nobbing' & neither would fit the context of your question. Are your referring to 'bobbing'? Some people tense their upper back & neck muscles when they are stressed. This can lead to neck & head tightness & pain.

I m 16 year old female and I have a dandruff like small spot (about 1in) in my head. When I remove it my skin turns pinkish. Is it dermatitis???

Eczema or psoriasis: I am not a dermatologist and not an expert on skin conditions. However, this sounds like either eczema or psoriasis. When you have the patch but before you scrape it, make an appointment with a dermatologist.

Small bumps on the sides of the head of the penis, says they've been there before since he was younger but the other day they seemed more noticeable.?

Pearly penile papule: These are benign growths on the side of the glans penis, they are NOT sexually transmitted disease, or cancerous, some people are worried and want to have them removed ; However, it is not necessary to do so

I have very small pimple like bumps under my penis head since I was young, these are white I n color, what can they be?

PPP: Pearly penile papules, sometimes called tyson's glands. Can come and go, be more prominent at times than others. They are benign, normal and no need for concern. You always take and send a picture for our review & confirmation. It would not be sexting, would be for medical review and you remain anonymous.

2 days ago I popped a small pimple on my face. Now it's dark red, very hard, warm, and the size of a dime. It is raised and doesn't have a head.

Probably Infected: Its easy to introduce bacteria into the area when you pop a pimple, and this sounds like it is a small skin infection setting up, especially the warmth. Try some neosporin creme on it tonight and see how it looks in the morning. You may need an oral antibiotic if it worsens overnight. Good luck!

29 year old female 2 head CT scans without contrast within 2 months of one another. What is my cancer risk? I have read "small" or "negligible"

Negligible: Two CT scans will not raise your risk to a measurable level, above your background risk.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Notice dew dark small patches on penile head. Used retin A (tretinoin) skin got burned but healed since then having these light brown patches. Kind of pigmentation?

Notice dew dark small patches on penile head. Used retin A (tretinoin) skin got burned but healed since then having these light brown patches. Kind of pigmentation?

Leave it alone...: Hi! MGuy, welcome sending in new question. Based on what you reported about glans penis, it would be most reasonable to just leave it alone as long as having no elevation or erosion (open wound) and being stable in size. Most likely, this patch will remain with you forever. More? Have doc take a direct look.

See below: Not unusual to have either residual hypo- or hyperpigmenation of the penis (shaft or glans) after treatment or resolution of any type of infection, inflammation, or irritation. Such pigmentation tends to return toward normal with time (months to years). Trying to normalize these areas with various topicals sometimes delay rather than enhances the process. Recommend see a dermatologist if concerned
