Lymph nodes enlarge when they are doing what they are there for, fighting inflammation, and have some characteristics that can only be assessed by examining them. Your doctor's right: Almost certainly. Leave it alone. I'm going to assume it's freely movable and not fixed to surrounding structures. Many people your age have these. Lymphoma unlikely: Lymphomas are usually painless. Painful lump means some infection and you should talk to primary care doctor (pcp) and examined in pcp office. If needed, dermatology referral.
