Not by itself: If the only abnormality on your neurological exam is "weak" reflex in the left arm (which would technically be the triceps or the biceps reflex since the arm is that part of the upper extremity between shoulder and elbow) then, nobody could make a diagnosis of ALS based on this finding alone. Also, you are in the wrong age group for ALS and women are far less affected than men. All the best. ...Read more

SOME GUESSES: Your description may suggest a focal neurological problem such as a prior stroke or parkinson's disease, but, of course, there may well be other explanations, and a direct visit to a neurologist would be very useful. Access placement: If you decide to go on hemodialysis, your vascular access should be a arterio-venous fistula (avf). That is normally placed in the non-dominant arm. Another option is peritoneal dialysis (pd), where a catheter in placed in the peritoneal cavity so no arterial access is needed. See the image on the right. Pain is a signal...: There are many possibilities for these symptoms and in the absence of other symptoms or feeling ill, I think it is reasonable to set up an appointment this week with your doctor. What seems to be simply muscle aches could be chronic and not life-threatening problems or rarely more immediate problems that need to be addressed promptly.
