Normal colonoscopy 2 months ago. Noticed some blood on stool (not sure) but blood on toilet paper when wiping, and some stool. Need colonoscopy again?

No: Probably an internal hemorrhoid, fissure, or something else. A negative colonoscopy does not need repeating for 5-10 years in general. You may still need to have persistent rectal bleeding checked out at some point, but you won't need a colonoscopy. ...Read more

Is kidney pain normal during the colonoscoppy prep. Also brown diahrea 5 mins after eating after test?

Many discomforts: may occur during a colonoscopy prep. It is not a pleasant thing to go through. The pain in the area of your kidney, was more likely originating from the colon which underlies the kidneys. The brown diarrhea after eating is probably due to irritation of your colon by the prep and the test. Drink clear liquids and a BRAT diet to help your colon recover. ...Read more

Hematuria: Although blood in the urine is never "normal", there are many possible causes that are relatively benign. Sounds like the lower urinary tract has been adequately evaluated. I would recommend a renal evaluation at this point. A nephrologist would be a good start. ...Read more

Blood in urine: While it may not be cancer but it's definitely of concern especially if it was painless passage of blood. It should not be ignored and even if no repeated episodes in the near future, this needs to be pursued. You may be passing small microscopic amount frequently without realizing it. Seek local care, primary or urology. ...Read more

Had colonoscopy 1 year ago. Found inflammation and divirticuli. Still having abdominal cramps, nausea and have fresh blood on paper after diahrea.

Get checked out: Sounds like you had an episode of acute diverticulitis a year ago. The symptoms now might indicate the same. Alternative possibilities for the pain now include diverticulosis without the inflammation/infection, ibs (irritable bowel) or colitis (us or crohn's). The fresh blood is indicative of bleeding from a anorectal source most commonly hemorrhoids. See your doctor about this. ...Read more

Should be fine: Without knowing anything other than that you have had colonoscopies that were fine, then more than likely this is a benign process of the anal area - fissure/hemorrhoid, which are not life threatening and can be treated very easily. ...Read more

My calprotectin is 59. Other than occasional mild cramps, no diarrhea, constipation, blood or other symptoms. Other labs all normal. Colonoscopy time?

Not necessarily: I'm not sure why you had a fecal calprotectin performed if you have no symptoms other than cramping. Levels are elevated in inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. If you have a family history of ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease a colonoscopy could be considered, but will likely be of low yield without additional symptoms. ...Read more

Mild peritoneal sign: The description of symptoms given appear to represent peritoneal irritation post colonoscopy. Diarrhea can be normal because of prep but tenderness on pressing suggests local peritoneal signs where if a biopsy were taken, a miniscule perforation that has localized is causing the symptoms. Contact doctor: Although it is remotely possible that you might have some residual gas trapped in the colon, you should contact the doctor who did the colonoscopy to make sure ASAP. I doubt that the itching and rash are related to the colonoscopy. Have you tried antihistamine? Consider consulting an allergist or dermatologist if the rash fails to respond to antihistamine or persists >6 weeks. ...Read more

Blood in stool. Colonoscopy showed mild proctitis inflammation. Biopsies normal. Gi not worried, no treatment, no diagnosis. . Should I be worried. ?

No: I suspect this is a mechanical process causing a bit of inflammation and tissue injury. We're not going to do anything when the biopsy is normal and there's no mass lesion. If your physician is agreeable, a diet with some more fiber might help. ...Read more

I had a lower colonoscopy and the doctors found nothing abnormal.I still have a fair amount of blood after going the toilet.Should I go back ?

Colorectal Surgeon: The bleeding you describe (despite a normal colonoscopy, which does not view the anal canal well) is most likely the result of either internal hemorrhoids or an anal fissure, both of which are often easily treated. I would strongly advise you to see a colorectal surgeon who can diagnose the problem and most likely treat it with either medication or a simple office procedure. ...Read more

Normal colonoscopy but blood in stool, what's wrong?

See below : The colon is so huge that sometimes the camera doesn't catch a small bleed. Colonoscopies are important to make sure you don't have inflammation in the colon and it rules out serious causes. You might have a blood vessel that bleeds on and off. Or it might be something in the anal area like a crack in the wall causing some bleeding when you wipe. Also the bleed could be from above the colon. ...Read more

I have ibs. Ive had 2 colonoscopies within the past 3 years and they were normal. When i wipe i see a little bit of pink blood. Should i worry?

Take some: Reassurance, if you are seeing blood it's unlikely to be related to more concerning things like colon cancer, colonic polyps(which can become cancer) or inflammatory bowel disease(like ulcerative colitis or crohn's disease). These very concerning conditions would be very unlikely to be missed by two colonoscopies within 3 years, particularly if the preparation was good. ...Read more
