Have occasional small red blood streaking outside stool.Slight burning. Have had 4 colonoscopy in last 10 years, all fine,last one 3 years ago.Advice?
My calprotectin is 59. Other than occasional mild cramps, no diarrhea, constipation, blood or other symptoms. Other labs all normal. Colonoscopy time?
Not necessarily: I'm not sure why you had a fecal calprotectin performed if you have no symptoms other than cramping. Levels are elevated in inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. If you have a family history of ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease a colonoscopy could be considered, but will likely be of low yield without additional symptoms. ...Read more

Mild peritoneal sign: The description of symptoms given appear to represent peritoneal irritation post colonoscopy. Diarrhea can be normal because of prep but tenderness on pressing suggests local peritoneal signs where if a biopsy were taken, a miniscule perforation that has localized is causing the symptoms. Had c-diff. Once cleared, doc did colonoscopy. Everything perfect. Did notice redness (erythema...No blood) in rectum. Did random biopsies. Some blood in stool 2 day after. Very mild cramping. Normal?

Post colonoscopy : can be normal for a day or 2. Especially if biopsies were done. Could also be from internal hemorrhoids being irritated by scope. Anal fissure also possible. The results of the colonoscopy should have revealed bleeding sites of concern. Be sure to notify whoever did the scope if bleeding is severe or persistent beyond a couple of days. ...Read more
