Tube: If the tube is draining well and there is no discomfort on that side when you lie on it, it should be ok to sleep on that side, but your urologist is best qualified to advise you.

Rare: It is rare but pregnancies can occur after getting the tubes tied. Check a test. Also you can ovulate less frequently and this can disrupt your normal cycles. This can be evaluated by your doctor

I have a nephrostomy tube just placed on my right. How do I sleep with it? Secure it to my leg, or hang it off the bed? Also can I sleep on my back?

Sleep on left: You will likely be most comfortable sleeping on your left side if possible. Sleeping on your back may be possible if extra dressings are placed to pad the area around the tube. It is not a good idea to hang the tube off the bed as it this tension might dislodge the tube internally and/or cause pain. Best to lay bag beside you in bed and do not anchor to anything in case you turn in your sleep

Will the doctor put me to sleep if I need a chest tube inserted?

Will the doctor put me to sleep if I need a chest tube inserted?

Depends: If this is an emergent need for a chest tube usually only local/topical medications are given. If this is an elective placement of the chest tube occassionally IV medication can be given before the procedure. In good hands the placement should be only moderately uncomfortable.

Do u need to get put to sleep to get ear tubes inserted?

Depends: This is delicate work, involving cutting a hole in a sensitive ear drum after cleaning & sanitizing the ear canal, then any mucous or debris is suctioned out of the middle ear with a vacuum that sounds like a train bearing down on you. I suppose an adult might want to tough it out awake, understanding that any movement might mess things up, but it wouldn't work for infants/kids.

Spend quality time.: Your loved one is nearing her death, which we all must face. Let hers be surrounded by the love of those who can ease the passing. Does she have a living will or advance directives? If so follow them. Take care.

Intolerable Pain: Intolerable pain is not normal. Your question appears to be the very definition of when it is time to get to the doctor for an evaluation.

Another idea: Your childs chewing in his sleep along with hismoaning and growning in his sleep may represent a possible seizure disorder. Discuss the problem with your pediatrician or get a referral to a pedistric neurologist.

For about a month my left ear (middle ear/Eustachian tube area) makes a whooshing sound when I eat and it blocks up whenever I sleep on it?

For about a month my left ear (middle ear/Eustachian tube area) makes a whooshing sound when I eat and it blocks up whenever I sleep on it?

Get it checked: Todd. ...sounds like there may be an infection present. Residue from the infection could cause the blockage when you sleep or the eustachian tube muscles may be contracting to cause the blockage.

I take nasal spray lying down before sleep then I sleep on my left side can nasal spray block the ear canal/eustachian tube thanks?

I take nasal spray lying down before sleep then I sleep on my left side can nasal spray block the ear canal/eustachian tube thanks?

Doubtful: It would be highly unlikely. But the nasal spray is designed to be used when you are in an upright position and thus I would not recommend using it lying down since it will likely be less effective.

If you wear a nose tube with oxygen when asleep, could this cause dry or sore throat? Can it cause dry mouth?

If you wear a nose tube with oxygen when asleep, could this cause dry or sore throat? Can it cause dry mouth?

Yes, yes on both: Usually there is a water moisturizer along with the oxygen in the machine that you can turn on. If there isn't, ask for one that does. You do not want dry mouth because this condition can cause rampant tooth decay. Some medications will cause dry mouth. If this happens, ask your physician or dentist to prescribe biotene mouth rinse and saliva replacement. You must meticulously clean your teeth.
