Sleep Train 3 Month Old Baby
More or less: I push for 2.5-3 hours during the day and 4-5 hr at night. If you make a gradual change this can happen and you will both do well. After the kid reaches 10 lb, she may sleep 5-7 hrs. This is often aided if she is fed as she wakens rather than as she tires and is ready for sleep. Removing feeds from the sleep ritual alows them to learn to self settle. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Telogen effluvium: Sudden apparent hair loss without the creation of bald spots usually represents a normal periodic process called telogen effluvium. This tends to resolve spontaneously before anyone notices any thinning of the hair (you usually just see a lot in the shower drain). If others notice that your hair is thinning, however, then you may want to consult your doctor. ...Read more

Only liquid food: A 3-month old baby eats only liquid food, called breast milk. If for some reason, the mother cannot produce breast milk, she can feed the baby a liquid food called baby formula. Solid foods, such as rice cereal mixed with formula or mixed with water, can be started at age 6 months... unless there is a special reason the doctor is asking for early use of rice cereal (such as in refluxing babies). ...Read more
My 8 month old baby fell off a king sized bed about 3 feet tall. He cried for about 2-3 minutes. Is he ok?
Quick cry, prob OK: Babies can move and fall in the most amazing ways- that is why people get so frantic about child-'proofing' things. If your baby fell, especially onto carpet or a rug, cried immediately, and then was normal in behavior, then all is probably ok. However, if you are unsure if he is acting normally, please see a dr for an exam. Ed worthy: baby very sleepy, vomiting, bruising around eyes, or worry! ...Read more
I never recommend it: Any pungent odor or fume, whether rubbed on or placed in a vaporizer can cause increasing congestion in an infant. I equate vicks to cigarette smoke in young infants. It has little if any value at any age and never before age 3-6yrs. This is a throwback to the sweat lodges of the indians and should be abandoned along with leaches. ...Read more
3 month old spits up after every bottle! gaining weight and doesn't cry after spit up! Generally, a happy baby! Reflex? Switch formula? Allergy?
Thicken Feeds: You can try thickening the feeding with one teasoon of rice cereal per ounce of formula, feed the baby just a smaller feeding and more often, elevate the head of the bed, and keep him upright between feedings as much as possible. If he is gaining weight, happy and not having painful feedings, I'd try these simple measures. Be sure and make your four month appt with his pediatrician! ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Tape or a dressing: It is best to use tape or a dressing to guide the tube away from the nose and out of the way of the hands. Tucking the tube into the child's clothes may prevent it from being snagged when you are moving the baby. Be sure to learn how to replace the NG tube or consult your doctor if you need help putting it back into place. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
2 month old baby. Bottle fed. She drinks about 1 to 1.5 oz milk a time. Every hour intervals. At night she sleeps for 7 hours and not fed . Proper?
Pumped milk, right?: Babies drink breast milk, either pumped or directly from the breast. Formula (not cow milk) is an option if there is not enough breast milk. In nature, nobody knows how much a baby drinks, because she drinks from the breast. That being said, if a normal healthy 2 month-old wakes every hour and only drinks 1.5 oz, she can be gradually increased to 3 oz per feeding and will likely sleep better. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Meconium passed?: Did your baby pass meconium after delivery? Are there some stools or none? Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding? If your baby passed meconium after delivery, is breastfed, and is not uncomfortable then it may be ok. Breast fed babies can go days without stools. If, however, your baby is very uncomfortable and/or has not passed meconium you need to take the baby to a doctor right away. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
