When phenobarbital is taken for sleeping could it cause a 16 yo to have is eyes rolling and be unresponsive and shallow breathing this happen in 1998?

Yes: Phenobarbital is an anti-convulsant barbiturate and a sedative hypnotic. It is not commonly used for sleeping anymore, having been replaced by benzodiazepines.
It does induce sleep and depresses respiration (breathing), so the symptoms you describe are not unusual. The rolling eyes can be indicative of a stage of sleep-rem (rapid eye movement). ...Read more

Iwas 16 my parents walked in room while I was sleeping my eyes were rolling and I was limp and couldn't be woken my dad said it was a gran mal im 30?

Not that simple: Grand mal implys a generalized seizure involving both sides of the body. While the event you described may have been a seizure, it may have been a form of sleep myoclonis, night terror or benign rolandic seizure, none of which have the long term implications of a grand mal seizure for future events. You should discuss the events with your dr & see if further testing is appropriate in your case., . ...Read more

How to I stop obsessing over a seizure that happened in my teens if it was that my eyes were rolling in my sleep EEG was positive but had meds in me?

A book that may help: Jeff24, I agree with dr. Smith's observations. What keeps worrying you about this one seizure that happened so long ago? Have doctors reassured you that you are safe? These are surely things to explore with your therapist. Also, the inexpensive book "stop obsessing" by edna foa (amazon. Com has it) has helped many people, if you will practice the exercises in it as well. Good luck to you. ...Read more

Is it possible in 98 after having what was thought to be 2 seizures in my sleep just eyes rolling was misdiagnosed by EEG while taking sleep me at 16?

Likely seizure: Sleeping often brings out seizure activity and the eeg is quite effective at capturing such activity.

The rolling back of eyes produces a distinct pattern on the eeg that all epileptologists can recognize. It is quite unlikely that they confused that with seizure activity. ...Read more

When I was 14 and on a sleeping pill for an adult what couldve caused me to have 2 seizures in my sleep just eyes rolling one positive EEG in hospita?

Slleeping pills: Some sleeping pills in strong enough doses can do this. However if no reurrence in 10 yrs, I would put any concerns on the back burner. Do not take same pills again. 4t0 6 % of children/adolescents can have abnormal eegs. There is a certain eeg pattern which could indicate future risk. More likely eeg non epileptic. ...Read more

4 month old baby started rolling on stomach in sleep and is sleeping more comfortably. Will he turn head to side? Sometimes he's face down in matress.

Two issues: First, I never worry about whether a baby shifts their position at night when they have the physical ability to role. Second, since SIDS is associated with belly sleeping, I don't put them down on their belly for the first year. Yes they can turn their head, and we belly slept babies up until 1992 when the back to sleep movement began. Since then we have seen a 40% decline in SIDS ...Read more
