What's better for the foot? Sneakers, sandals, running shoes?

What's better for the foot? Sneakers, sandals, running shoes?

All can be fine: This is hard to answer. It depends on the quality of the shoe, how well it fits the shape of your foot and, most importantly, how well it feels. As a rule, the thicker the sole, the stiffer the shoe, the better the support, the better the shoe is for you. It does mean that other shoes are bad. Using generalities, my best answer to your question, would be a good running shoe. Dr l. ...Read more

Don't worry: Shop for shoes late in the day Find a shoe where the widest point of the shoe is at the widest part of the foot. Leave one thumb press of space between big toe and the toe box of the shoe. Place a wad of lamb's wool in to the distal toe of shoe Place a 1/2 inch heel lift under the shoe liner. What are barefoot running shoes? Are they better than traditional running shoes?

What are barefoot running shoes? Are they better than traditional running shoes?

The latest trend among runners, barefoot running shoes look more like gloves than shoes: Indeed, they're often called "five toe" shoes. Inspired by a growing enthusiasm for barefoot running, barefoot running shoes are lower to the ground, lighter and less cushioned than conventional running shoes. They're designed to provide some protection for your feet while offering some of the desirable aspects of barefoot running. Traditional running shoes emphasize stability and cushioning, with thick soles and elevated heels. But there's no evidence that these shoes prevent injuries, and in some individuals they may actually increase injury risk. Although barefoot running does carry risks, shoeless runners may avoid some of the potentially harmful forces that conventional running shoe wearers experience. However, more research is needed, and research is ongoing regarding the potential benefits and risks of barefoot running. If you're happy with your current running shoes, there's no need to change. If you want to experiment with barefoot running shoes, ease into it. Make sure to find a shoe that's appropriate for your foot, and choose softer and more-forgiving running surfaces at first, such as a cushioned track. Several types of barefoot-inspired shoes are available. Also talk to a sports medicine specialist or foot doctor before beginning barefoot running, especially if you've had injuries or foot problems in the past. ...Read more

1-must wear straight shoe lasts for overpronation & flat feet? 2-can sneakers have mesh and leather tops?

??: Not so much a straight last as much as a last of some kind / cheaper shoes may look ok but if you can bend the shoe easily at the heel-forefoot junction then this is not a good shoe for you a good shoe with a last coupled with a good otc or custom made orthotic is the ticket as long as the construction is of reasonable quality what the upper is made from is not too much of an issue. ...Read more

Gel heel liner: There are so many shapes and sizes of feet that shoe manufacturers cannot possibly make shoes for every need. What i would recommend you do is find a shoe that fits your toes and then purchase a gel heel liner that goes into the back of the shoe to help snug the shoe around the heel. Foot drop shoes

Foot Drop Shoes: The only shoe type I have ever found useless for some of my patients with drop foot is some stable heel. Since it is hard to lift your foot past ankle neutral, the heel makes it easier to move from heel lift to propulsion. For a guy, probably cowboy boots would be the best, or dansko clog type shoes.
