May be normal: Many women do not have regular, 28 day cycles. In fact, almost all women have a few cycles each year that are not the same. Ths is extremely common just after puberty, and before menopause. However, sometimes this can be due to thyroid problems or things like pcos. It's worth keeping a log for a few months and sharing it with your doctor. Sometime birth control pills can help regulate this. ...Read more

I never miss a period have one every month but they come on different days is that normal?

I never miss a period have one every month but they come on different days is that normal?

Yes: Looking at a calendar, it would be impossible for a woman to have her periods come on the same day each month UNLESS she had 31-day cycles for Jan Mar May Jul Aug Oct Dec, and 30-day cycles for Apr Jun Sep Nov, and then a 28-day cycle for Feb (29-days if a leap year). That means her cycles would have to match the same varying length as the month she is in... it doesn't happen like that in nature. ...Read more

Sure you might?: Sure you may have an STD or AIDS if you have unprotected sex. However this would not cause a change in your periods per se. Your large weight gain is more likely responsible for irregular periods. Get tested! Hard to guess, but: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed. ...Read more

Why did I miss my period last month? I am 19, never have had sex, and I have always gotten my period every month until now.

First: First of all let me reassure you that this normal and happens to many women throughout their childbearing years. Amenorrhea (absence of period) can be due to a number of reason, obviously pregnancy (not in your case), extreme fluctuations in weight (increase or decrease), hormonal changes (i.E thyroid disorders), birth control pills, and stress/anxiety.
Your period will likely return in the next couple of months; if it does not see your doctor and consider birth control pills to regulate your period.
Take care. ...Read more

Possibly: You ovulate approximately 12-14 days after the first day of your period. If you have sex around that time then you may become pregnant. It is impossible to tell in advance if you will become pregnant during any one cycle. If you miss a period check a pregnancy test. If you are trying to conceive, start prenatal vitamins with folate (folic acid) now to prevent neural tube defects, a kind of birth defect. ...Read more

My period only comes every other month should I wait til next month to see if I miss my period or take a pregnancy test now that it's been 3 wks?

Either way: Waiting 2 months is fine to do. If wanting to know a few weeks sooner, a woman would have to know when she ovulates... and if she did have sex around ovulation time, she can check a home pregnancy test 3 weeks after that time. ...Read more

My periods get delayed every month. Sometimes I miss them too. Can u tell me if I need to see a doctor for this. I also get terrible pain on the 1st day?

Irregular periods: As long as you have 8 periods in 12 months, you are probably ok. Having pain on day 1 is normal. If your periods have been like that for a long time, i'd not worry. If that's new from a more regular pattern, see doc. ...Read more

I've taken over the counter pregnancy test and one in my drs office. All negative but I still miss my period every month. How can I get pregnant?

Depends: You may wish to delay having children as you are quite young. However, if you have sufficient resources to take care of a child or children you need to address the following. If you have been having unprotected sex for a year or more, you need to consult a fertility specialist. If it has been less than a year, you may wish to time your sex better by learning to find out when you may be ovulating. ...Read more

After regularly having a period every month is it bad to miss it for the first time during the first month of taking birth control? Ign of pregnancy?

After regularly having a period every month is it bad to miss it for the first time during the first month of taking birth control? Ign of pregnancy?

Normal, not bad: Birth control can definitely affect your cycle, especially in the first few months you take it. If you miss a day or more, that can definitely throw off the cycle as well. Regular daily use should, over time, help regulate your cycle. I don't think you're pregnant if you haven't missed a pill, but a pregnancy test could confirm if you are. Give your body 3 months to adjust to new birth control. ...Read more

Is it possible that I am pregnant? My menstrual cycle is irregular normally; I can miss my period up to 2 months late. My partner and I had intercourse several times before and after my period and he ejaculated in me every time. My last period was october

Is it possible that I am pregnant? My menstrual cycle is irregular normally; I can miss my period up to 2 months late. My partner and I had intercourse several times before and after my period and he ejaculated in me every time. My last period was october

As: As doctors, anytime a fertile, sexually active woman has an abnormally light or missed period, the first thing we do is rule out pregnancy. You can either take another home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period, so another negative test would help confirm that you are not pregnant. A blood test can tell if you are pregnant as soon as 7 days after conception and a doctor's urine pregnancy test can tell if you are pregnant around when you next period should come. Since your period is usually irregular, this makes it difficult to time fertility windows and know what a missed period means. Since you had an infection the last time you had these symptoms, you should probably be checked by your doctor either way. Good luck! ...Read more

Menstrual symptom question. Is every woman "allowed" to miss a period occasionally, say once a year?

Menstrual symptom question. Is every woman "allowed" to miss a period occasionally, say once a year?

Generally yes: In the absence of hormone usage, menstruation usually indicates that ovulation has occurred and Progesterone has been produced. Without any menses, no progersterone would be produced and women would be in a relatively unhealthy estrogen-only state. Missing up to several periods a year would still allow for enough Progesterone in the other cycles to oppose the estrogen. ...Read more

Can switching types of pills make you miss your period? Should I be worried? I use condoms every time and correctly as well

Missed period?: Most kinds of oral contraceptives are a combination of both an estrogen and a progestin, in sometimes different doses. If "switching" occurs without a break, the lining of the womb might not bleed. Condoms are not "perfect" birth control, so obtain a serum pregnancy test from your healthcare source to be certain about possible pregnancy. ...Read more
