Oligomenorrhea: Abnormal bleeding can have many causes. If you aren't pregnant, start keeping a calendar of your periods, and if they continue to be abnormal then take this to a gynecologist. You may have something that is causing this and need a work up prior to treatment.

I don't have my period regualar every month? I skip months. Is that good or bad?

I don't have my period regualar every month? I skip months. Is that good or bad?

May be normal: Many women do not have regular, 28 day cycles. In fact, almost all women have a few cycles each year that are not the same. Ths is extremely common just after puberty, and before menopause. However, sometimes this can be due to thyroid problems or things like pcos. It's worth keeping a log for a few months and sharing it with your doctor. Sometime birth control pills can help regulate this.

I never miss a period have one every month but they come on different days is that normal?

I never miss a period have one every month but they come on different days is that normal?

Yes: Looking at a calendar, it would be impossible for a woman to have her periods come on the same day each month UNLESS she had 31-day cycles for Jan Mar May Jul Aug Oct Dec, and 30-day cycles for Apr Jun Sep Nov, and then a 28-day cycle for Feb (29-days if a leap year). That means her cycles would have to match the same varying length as the month she is in... it doesn't happen like that in nature.

Anovulatory bleeding: Pregnancy is always on the list of possibilities when a woman has abnormal uterine bleeding or cycles. You may be having anovulatory cycles (cycle without producing an egg from the ovary). If a urine pregnancy test is negative, I would recommend evaluation by your gynecologist, and treatment will depend on the cause of the abnormal bleeding and your current short-term pregnancy goals.

I have an irregular period. I skip every 2-3 months and when it does happen I have very mild cramps. What causes this?

Could be normal: Periods can be irregular in your teenage years soon after first starting. However, there are also certain conditions that can cause irregular or infrequent menses, such as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), stress, or other things. If you are concerned, a visit to your ob/gyn or PCP is recommended for further evaluation.

Is it safe to skip placebo bc pills and start new pack in order to skip periods. Is this safe to do every month? Will the bc still be as effective?

Is it safe to skip placebo bc pills and start new pack in order to skip periods. Is this safe to do every month? Will the bc still be as effective?

It is OK - ask GYN!: In consultation with your gynecologist, you may indeed try quarterly periods with continuous birth control pill intake (i.e. Skipping the placebo pills). Do not try this on your own, as it may have adverse consequences without medical supervision.

Sure you might?: Sure you may have an STD or AIDS if you have unprotected sex. However this would not cause a change in your periods per se. Your large weight gain is more likely responsible for irregular periods. Get tested! I'm not sure what your weight was to start with, but get back into normal range and your periods may get back to normal.

Birth Control: If her periods are regular this is generally safe, however, you would want to check with her prescribing doctor who knows her history and medical conditions before you do this.

Hard to guess, but: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed.

Why did I miss my period last month? I am 19, never have had sex, and I have always gotten my period every month until now.

Why did I miss my period last month? I am 19, never have had sex, and I have always gotten my period every month until now.

First: First of all let me reassure you that this normal and happens to many women throughout their childbearing years. Amenorrhea (absence of period) can be due to a number of reason, obviously pregnancy (not in your case), extreme fluctuations in weight (increase or decrease), hormonal changes (i.E thyroid disorders), birth control pills, and stress/anxiety. Your period will likely return in the next couple of months; if it does not see your doctor and consider birth control pills to regulate your period. Take care.

My period is typically around the 23rd of every month, my husband and I tried to conceive on the 13th of this month (july) will I miss my expected cycle this month?

Possibly: You ovulate approximately 12-14 days after the first day of your period. If you have sex around that time then you may become pregnant. It is impossible to tell in advance if you will become pregnant during any one cycle. If you miss a period check a pregnancy test. if you are trying to conceive, start prenatal vitamins with folate (folic acid) now to prevent neural tube defects, a kind of birth defect.

My period only comes every other month should I wait til next month to see if I miss my period or take a pregnancy test now that it's been 3 wks?

My period only comes every other month should I wait til next month to see if I miss my period or take a pregnancy test now that it's been 3 wks?

Either way: Waiting 2 months is fine to do. If wanting to know a few weeks sooner, a woman would have to know when she ovulates... and if she did have sex around ovulation time, she can check a home pregnancy test 3 weeks after that time.

My periods get delayed every month. Sometimes I miss them too. Can u tell me if I need to see a doctor for this. I also get terrible pain on the 1st day?

Irregular periods: As long as you have 8 periods in 12 months, you are probably ok. Having pain on day 1 is normal. If your periods have been like that for a long time, i'd not worry. If that's new from a more regular pattern, see doc.

I've taken over the counter pregnancy test and one in my drs office. All negative but I still miss my period every month. How can I get pregnant?

Depends: You may wish to delay having children as you are quite young. However, if you have sufficient resources to take care of a child or children you need to address the following. If you have been having unprotected sex for a year or more, you need to consult a fertility specialist. If it has been less than a year, you may wish to time your sex better by learning to find out when you may be ovulating.

After regularly having a period every month is it bad to miss it for the first time during the first month of taking birth control? Ign of pregnancy?

After regularly having a period every month is it bad to miss it for the first time during the first month of taking birth control? Ign of pregnancy?

Normal, not bad: Birth control can definitely affect your cycle, especially in the first few months you take it. If you miss a day or more, that can definitely throw off the cycle as well. Regular daily use should, over time, help regulate your cycle. I don't think you're pregnant if you haven't missed a pill, but a pregnancy test could confirm if you are. Give your body 3 months to adjust to new birth control.
