However the rash from AD is not usually relieved with antihistamine and thus I wonder if you meant hives (swelling) instead of a rash. Most people like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) - but that's the result of brand recognition. Claritin (loratidine) and Allegra (fexofenadine) work as well & as fast without causing drowsiness.
