Which skin infection causes white/yellow biofilm looking secretions from scalp, and skin? (animal contagious, survives on household items)
Odd question: I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean when you say "animal contagiou?" Do you mean that the infection can be passed from humans to animals or vice versa? And which household items does this infection exist on? What is the clinical associated with your question? Do you have a picture you can upload? Send to: www.healthtap.com/drsaghafi ...Read more
Interesting: Never heard that the skin would be susceptible to insect bites more than someone else's unless the smell of the skin- soaps, colognes, perfumes, etc. maybe attracts the bugs more. You might try not wearing anything that has a fragrance to it- even washing clothes in fragrance free detergent and dryer sheets. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Concerning restaurant food handling: Is any bacteria that is transferred from a person's dirty hands onto food destroyed by heat from an oven at all?
No: If that were to happen, the food would be overcooked all the time, and people would give the chef bad ratings and not visit the restaurant again. The food just has to be safe for normal people, which means immuno-suppressed people have to make their own special decisions (we can never try to make the world safe for every single person). Many foods are not meant to be well-cooked (salad, sushi...). ...Read more
Can cetaphil help in preventing dark scar marks from occurring from insect bites and other skin rashes?
Won't prevent scar: But it will soften the area and help make it less noticeable. Normal insect bites shouldn't scar unless scratched open if this is a problem too try putting some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream on and covering with band aid. If you are dark pigmented and have dark scars try fade cream but don't use it close to your eyes. ...Read more

What could cause rash, blistering/swelling, and scabbing on ear.. With no history of burns, scrapes, insect bites, or contact with allergens?
? Impetigo: What you describe sounds suspicious for impetigo, a strep infection of your skin. You can have a tiny break in your skin that you were not even aware of, and the normal skin bacteria could then enter in and cause a local strep infection. The "scabbing" is what makes me especially suspicious. Try washing with antibacterial wash, put on antibiotic ointment, and if not better in a few days, see doc. ...Read more
