Is it normal for a 6 week old baby to have little rashes all over their face, ears, neck, and half of chest?

Common, not normal: Babies will have many episodes of illness and rashes, so these are quite common but not normal by 6 wks. If it is tiny/prickly little bumps (like-goose-bumps) and baby is acting normally, it is likely heat-rash. So, keep/dress baby comfortably and avoid excessive heat exposure. Check with doc for an eval to make sure..Congrats on new baby and good luck. ...Read more

Unlike Zoster, a painful skin condition that is limited to one side of the body, bacterial skin infections can affect both sides. Best to see a doctor or, if you live in the U.S., a HealthTap virtual consult for this. Best wishes! Dr. Anne. ...Read more
